Women have opened up new ways of exercising, not only by specializing in peripheral and often transdisciplinary issues, but also by proposing new forms of business organization, which generally make it easier to reconcile professional and personal life. Ways of working that, in the face of a review of production and business models, of places and work schedules, are essential when facing the challenges of a profession that - in the midst of internal reconversion process - faces the challenge of sustainability economic, social and environmental.

Therefore, it seems pertinent to dedicate the number to these precursors, since women have been from the beginning in the configuration of the habitat, and they themselves have been the beginning of changes in the profession, sometimes, with their mere presence in the classroom , the office or the construction site. We also want to know about those men who made and make it possible for women to be part of the profession: parents, teachers, clients, colleagues and couples, who made it easier for us or simply made it possible with the simple gesture of offering us the opportunity. Women in the past, present and future of architecture, its approaches, its works and fields of expertise, its successes and errors, its legacy and its potential.
