Abstract

The fact that Constant Nieuwenhuys belonged to the generation in charge of the reconstruction of Europe after the Second World War was extremely important in the development of the New Babylon project. Constant’s city is a new urban model that aims to provide an architectural solution to the vital aspirations of his generation, breaking completely with the city as it had been understood until that moment. A new city for homo ludens, the man of theories by Johan Huizinga, who was freed from the alienation of work specialization to dedicate his life to art and play.
