Conjugar las vanguardias cinematográficas con el potencial creativo del formato súper 8, recuperar metrajes inéditos o atraer figuras consagradas del cine experimental son los propósitos que, por segundo año consecutivo, se ha puesto el Festival de Cine Periférico (S8). Una muestra que ha crecido en calidad y propuestas y que no pretende ser «un festival para sentarse y ver películas, sino para participar en ellas», dice su director Ángel Rueda. Las nuevas tendencias se abren al potencial creativo del súper 8, un formato que ha acumulado polvo durante años pero que resurge con fuerza y nuevos usos para «enseñar y crear» a través de videocreaciones, cine reciclado o incluso videoclips. Esta nueva faceta plástica atrajo en la primera edición a 8.000 personas que visitaron la antigua prisión provincial de A Coruña, particular sede del evento que hoy se sitúa «en primera línea a nivel internacional» y trata, además, de «ocupar un espacio que Galicia necesitaba», reconoce Rueda.
