Peer review process

All papers submitted will be analyzed by external reviewers, according to strict criteria of scientific quality, and the Editorial Board will make the final decision in view of the reviewers' reports.

The originals will be reviewed by the system known as "double blind", maintaining the anonymity of the author and the reviewers. The papers will be sent to at least two external reviewers whose suggestions will be forwarded to the authors so that, if necessary, they can make the pertinent modifications. The Editorial Board will analyze all contributions and, taking into account the external evaluations, will decide their approval or rejection, as well as the volume and number in which the accepted articles will be published. Efforts will be made to inform the author of the acceptance or rejection of his/her contribution within a maximum period of five months, starting from the moment he/she is informed of the acceptance of the manuscript for external evaluation.

In view of the evaluators' reports, the Editorial Board may make one of the following decisions, which will be communicated to the author:

  • Accepted as is (or with slight modifications).

This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archive among participating libraries, allowing those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes.

Lockss (Lots OF Copies Keep Stuff Safe) is a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) and Open Source tool that acts as an open system for persistent access and preservation of digital content on the Web. It is a platform in which digital content, especially digital journal content, is collected and preserved in many caches in libraries around the world, with the prior permission of publishers.

Based on the concept of "distributed application", Lockss makes it possible to create system caches in publications or collections distributed to several Web servers, allowing constant communication between them to compare multiple copies of the same content and maintain their integrity. In the event of failure of the original server, for whatever reason, the same content can be provisioned from local caches. Of course, Lockss software and participation in its network are free, both for publishers who want to preserve their content and for libraries that want to maintain it.
