Abstract

Under the motto "Unknown Unknowns. An introduction to mysteries", the curator of the recent 23rd Milan Triennale 2022, Ersilia Vaudo -astrophysicist and director of the Diversity Office at the European Space Agency (ESA) - asked artists, architects and scientists to propose projects that address what we don't know or don't know.

A call with which he invited us to reflect in an interdisciplinary way on the immensity of undiscovered knowledge, understood as the driving force of thought. An idea that refers to the necessary and essential disorientation prior to any discovery.

(...) What is necessary is to have only ignorance and nothing more...

This request materialised in a constellation of installations, performances, events and debates that reflected on aspects such as gravity, light or the emerging challenges relating to deep space.
