“The architectural fantasy stimulates the activity of the architect. It wakes the creative thought up, but not only for the artist. Also it educates and stimulates all those that enter in touch with him; it produces new directions, new missions, and opens new horizons.”

Yakov Georgievich Chernikhov, 1927

Yakov Georgievich Chernikhov’s work Chernikhov is characterized by his permanent investigation on the architectural form. His work assumes the challenge of graficar the architectural art that there were proclaiming the theories of the suprematismo and the constructivismo, by means of the manipulation of strict geometric figures assembled with rigorous formal impetus.

For Chernikhov, the architect must attend to the requirements of the program with a brave attitude, which allows to operate his own imagination to avoid to fall down in formal imitations. It holds that quite that one that does not bear his own fantasy in mind is thinking in a false and incorrect way.

Graduate in the Academy of Fine arts, Chernikhov I believe his “Pilot Laboratory of Science and Investigation for Architectural Forms and Graphical Studies” where it was employed at the investigation of the experimental design. Dedicated to the writing and the education, it was urging his disciples to compose without imitating, appealing to a graphical literacy that allowed the development of one active test on the architectural form and the graphical representation.

Chernikov’s principal worry was the development of new methods of education in order that the works represent faithfully the theory of the constructivismo and the suprematismo and this way to solve the challenges that the modern architecture faces, fundamentally in the construction of industrial buildings. A numerous quantity of projects with formal very bold solutions they are the result of this experience. Applied geometric shapes of a dynamic way that stop to see the structural supports to reflect the ethics of the revolution.

Chernikov’s figure comes out in the academic field during the decade of 1920. In these years also it took part of several contests of architecture, of which it gained several, though his constructed work is scanty.

He wrote numerous books in which it exposed his revolutionary ideas: “The art of the graphical representation” of 1927, “Foundations of the modern architecture” in 1929, “The construction of architectural forms and of machine” in 1931 and ” 101 architectural fantasies” in 1933, with illustrations that anticipated the course of the discipline.

His extensive work summarizes an architectural thought that connects the suprematismo and the constructivismo with the inflexible application of his theoretical concepts.
