Lluís Hortet, exdirector de la Fundación Mies van der Rohe, recibirá mañana el RIBA Honorary Fellowship (The Royal Institute of British Architects). Se trata de una mención honorífica vitalicia que se concede anualmente a personas que han hecho una contribución especial y remarcable al mundo de la arquitectura desde alguna de sus vertientes (empresa, instituciones, educación, arte, etc).
La ceremonia de entrega de los premios se celebrará en Londres y a partir de ese momento Lluís Hortet podrá utilizar las letras Int RIBA tras su nombre.
Lluís Hortet fue director de la Fundació Mies van der Rohe desde 1989 hasta 2012. Entre 1983 y 1986 fue secretario técnico de Urbanismo del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona y entre 1987 y 1988, director de museos de la misma entidad. Junto con Ignasi de Solà-Morales y Xavier Rubert de Ventós creó los prestigiosos premios Mies van der Rohe de Arquitectura Europea que buscan crear un debate y recoger documentación sobre las obras de arquitectura contemporáneas.
Además de Hortet, también recibirán esta mención Clive Carr (Presidente de RIBA Enterprises); Professor Francesco Dal Co, historiador de la arquiectura (Italia); Roger Grafe, director, cineasta y criminólogo (Estados Unidos); Sir Richard Leese, político británico; Irena Murray, comisaria, historiadora de la arquitectura (República Checa), Nick Pearce, director Institute for Public Policy Research; Lady Susie Sainsbury, vicepresidenta de la Royal Shakespeare Company y vicepresidenta de la Academia Real de Música; y el fotógrafo Thomas Struth.
