The Foundation Wolf, a non-profit-making institution with headquarters in Israel, grants from 1978 his prizes to scientists in five categories – agriculture, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medicine and Physics-, and one to artists, rotating between the disciplines of Architecture, Music, Painting and Sculpture. In this category of the Arts, the last edition has rewarded the Portuguese Eduardo Souto de Moura, from whom the juror has distinguished his aptitude to integrate buildings in the nature and his great skill for the design. Endowed with 100.000 dollars each one, the prizes are granted every year in recognition of the major achievements in interest of the humanity and of the fraternal relations between the peoples. In previous summons they have been distinguished by the Wolf Prize Jørn Utzon, Fumihiko Maki, Álvaro Siza, Jean Nouvel, Peter Eisenman and David Chipperfield.
