Kodak announce

In a copy of 1949 of the Journal of the British Kinematograph Society magazine I have found the advertisement of Kodak that I attach here to the side. His text is curious and says the following thing:

“From the plane to the model, from the model to the structure to royal, like that size there grows this “castle of dream”, product of the skill of the air-freshener.

As architect of castles and country houses for the cinematographic industry, he increases the dramatic effect with his creative work with materials and textures. His sets help to establish and support the tone of the history … giving the necessary freedom to chamber and actors to do complete justice to the scene.

For it it must be more than main architect, must have royal knowledge of the photographic element in which his sets “will live”.

And from his narrow association with the art of the chamber, it knows all the creative freedom depends on the own movies. Movies with the versatility for which the family of the cinema of “Kodak” has been famous for a long time.

The first thing that turns out to be curious is that it refers to the professional who in Spain has named an air-freshener (set designer) instead of the art director or the designer of production, but seeing how the advertising text is written, it is of supposing that the author was an art director or took knowledge of cinematographic scenery, especially, as the appraisal of the work of these professionals and the important contribution that they do to the final result of the movies, without forgetting the knowledge that they have to have of the photography, an important difference with regard to the architects.
