The Latin-American Biennial show of Architecture and Urbanism (BIAU) proposes a series of summons opened for students and professionals in the frame of his seventh edition that will take place next September in the city of Cadiz.
The basic activities of the Biennial show turn concerning the recognition of professional paths and of significant works of architecture; to highlighting the best publications of the sector; when reward the works of investigation more distinctions or the best ideas of architects and students of architecture across contests in the network. All this after the selection effected by representative jurors of every subject matter that will meet reflected in the catalogue and in the corresponding exhibitions.
His general aims are to spread the experiences most emphasized in Latin America, Portugal and Spain to contribute to the formation of a critical thought and to a cultural politics integrated as for architecture and urbanism, as well as to articulate a permanent space of reflection and debate promoting the interest and the participation of different social segments in the protection of the territory, in the construction of the city and in the insertion of the architecture as factor of opportunity and reference.
The Latin-American Biennial show, with different names, has been celebrated previously in the following places: Madrid, Spain (1998), Mexico City, Mexico (2000), Santiago of Chile, Chile (2002), Lima, Peru, (2004), Montevideo, Uruguay (2006) Lisbon, Portugal (2008) and Medellin, Colombia (2010).
