Point of information of the Baroña´s Neolithic fortified settlement | RVR Architects

The Castro of Baroña is placed in the Concello de Porto do Son(A Coruña), in areas belonging to San’s Pedro parish of Baroña. It is a question of an accession of the Age of the Iron that it answers to the type of “coastal neolithic fortified settlement”, since he is placed in a small rocky peninsula inserted in a landscape spectacular and very well preserved.

The point of information is conceived to receive one or two persons who attend to the public, distribute hand information and could act, even, as guides on the area for programmed groups or that claim this possibility.

For the design of this module there splits of that it could re-use in another type of contexts, and that happens to form a part of the mobile equipment of the Town hall. This base of item, it does that it is thought about the most rigid and light possible structure, and that is a volume the most compact thing, for an easy transport and major permanence.

With the position of this construction, one tries to organize the beginning of the tour of the visit to the hopscotch, orientating the visitors towards a great ramp that takes them towards the interior of the module of receipt and that once visited they go out of him, across another ramp that they them place in a new access to the former way that goes down towards the neolithic fortified settlement, avoiding the troubled and dangerous point that existed in the blood-relationship of the former way of the neolithic fortified settlement with the road AC 550, which a small section was forcing the groups of visitors to travel for the border of this one.

The module in strict sense has a proportion in rectangular plant, arranged according to the raised tour, with the entry and exit of him in the narrow sides, which they propose completely glazed when it is opened. These fronts are closed with a few big constructed doors in the same way as the exterior closing giving him an image it compacts. Both in the entry and in the exit of the module, there appear the big projecting some that protect the income and that simultaneously generate a space of security, with the possibility of showing information when the module is closed.

In his construction the closing, it appears in the exterior part for a series of strips of identical wood arranged in vertically, what they sift across them the vision to the interior of the volume, across a few horizontal hollows, or for the glazed fronts when the module is opened.

The interior appears according to the tour, with exhibition of panels and information to both sides on the walls, leaving the interior space free for the traffic. The lighting of the interior, it is realized across two big longitudinal hollows arranged in the low and top part of the vertical paraments and of a lucernario in cover by the same proportions, besides the lighting got for the glazed fronts.

The exterior conditioning in the plot will complement itself with the construction on the bank of a new access to the way of descent to the neolithic fortified settlement, with steps of granite and with the plantation of two trees of great freightage placed near the ramps and that leak the sights from the interior of the module, towards the road.
