What is the BIM?

The BIM or Building Information Modeling is a model of management of architectural projects with an intelligent database that it´s updated by the users participants during the whole life cycle of the project.. Of this form it is favored to the collaborative and multidisciplinary work in which all the information of the project meets. Hereby the work is coordinated and manages in a more effective way, and overcoat facilitates the work of the persons in charge of management.

The initials BIM started being listened when the company Autodesk presented his program Revit, nevertheless, though the concept they designed it, other many companies that were developing similar softwares began to adopt also this term.

The professions related to the architecture need to know this type of project management. Autodesk Revit is one of the most used softwares, and there exist schools that they form in this sector. In addition the project shows the different stages giving a general vision of the same one, and of this form it is possible to realize a better study of everything what carries the work. It is very important to know aspects as the later needs of the building, that we will have costs, the environmental impact that will have, etc.

The good of the methodology BIM is that the information gets up-to-date of constant form. Hereby all the members of the project will know the decisions that take, in that stage of the project they are, and overcoat an idea of the structure to be done across all the contributed information.


· Digital intelligent design: Across this methodology, each of the areas designed of digital form is going to join and relate information of all kinds, for example, information of the products and the characteristics to realize, across there, calculations of automatic form.

· Optimization of time: The methodology has a clear aim, and this it is that the processes are simplified and, therefore, this influences directly the used time.

· Royal planning: The planning in order that a project works must be an as realist as possible. With this one method we will avoid delays in the time and aftercosts that suppose a quebradero of head.

· It facilitates the development of budget: On having possessed all the information in the same channel, it is easier to estimate the necessary resources and to develop therefore a budget.
