Es una exposici\u00f3n en plural, puesto que no hay un s\u00f3lo modo de concebir qu\u00e9 es la arquitectura, c\u00f3mo se hace y c\u00f3mo debe entenderse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Prrafobsico\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">La arquitectura, como cualquier disciplina, desarrolla su teor\u00eda en palabras; pero, conjuntamente, es capaz de pensar en im\u00e1genes. Ya en el Renacimiento, cuando los humanistas se decidieron a ordenar el saber sobre el\u00a0<em>arte de construir<\/em>, optaron mayoritariamente por mezclar palabra e imagen en sus tratados. La imagen ocupaba la fisura existente entre el idealismo de la palabra y el realismo de lo presente, sin confundirse con ninguno. Pero,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00bfqu\u00e9\u00a0<em>hace<\/em>\u00a0la imagen a la teor\u00eda? <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>En tanto forma de producci\u00f3n cultural,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00bfpuede proponer a trav\u00e9s de edificios o ciudades la visi\u00f3n significante de un mundo nuevo y mejor?<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Atlas de Teor\u00eda(s) de la Arquitectura<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>es una muestra visual sobre diferentes modos de ver el\u00a0<em>arte de construir<\/em>: diversos modos de concebir qu\u00e9\u00a0<em>es<\/em>\u00a0la arquitectura, c\u00f3mo se hace y c\u00f3mo debe entenderse. Cada generaci\u00f3n de arquitectos ha necesitado reescribir la historia desde su propio presente y, en consecuencia, tambi\u00e9n desarrollar su propia teor\u00eda \u2014que, como un\u00a0<em>fantasma<\/em>, se le presenta de urgencia una y otra vez\u2014. No hay teor\u00eda sin historia pero, como\u00a0<strong>atlas de im\u00e1genes<\/strong>, la exposici\u00f3n prefiere rastrear clasificaciones alternativas a la sucesi\u00f3n temporal. Porque la teor\u00eda de la arquitectura se conforma, en realidad, como una multiplicidad de teor\u00edas de la arquitectura que se conectan, a su vez, por una multiplicidad de relaciones hist\u00f3ricas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En una suerte de\u00a0<em>Wunderkammer<\/em>, cuarto de maravillas o gabinete de curiosidades, la exposici\u00f3n re\u00fane m\u00e1s de cincuenta documentos originales cedidos por el Canadian Centre for Architecture y la Biblioteca de la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid: grabados de\u00a0<strong>Piranesi<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Palladio<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<strong>Cesariano<\/strong>; montajes de\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/biografia\/peter-eisenman\/\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Eisenman<\/a><\/strong>; presentaciones de proyectos de\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/biografia\/le-corbusier\/\" target=\"_blank\">Le Corbusier<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gunnar Asplund<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<strong>Karl Friedrich Schinkel<\/strong>; dibujos conceptuales de <strong>Aldo Rossi<\/strong> o\u00a0<strong>John Hejduk<\/strong>; proyecciones singulares de\u00a0<strong>James Stirling<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<strong>Auguste Choisy<\/strong>; mensajes publicitarios de\u00a0<strong>Cedric Price<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<strong>Bernard Tschumi<\/strong>; posters de\u00a0<strong>Daniel Libeskind<\/strong>; levantamientos arqueol\u00f3gicos de\u00a0<strong>Le Roy<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<strong>Hittorff<\/strong>; o utop\u00edas urbanas de\u00a0<strong>Scamozzi<\/strong>\u00a0o\u00a0<strong>Frank Lloyd Wright<\/strong>. El arquitecto, como cualquier usuario, tiene a su alcance un repositorio aparentemente ilimitado de im\u00e1genes con solo teclear en el navegador. Dispone de redes y plataformas para compartirlas, para crear y administrar colecciones y tableros. Basta un clic para que un algoritmo localice cientos de ejemplos de apariencia similar. Un proceso de acumulaci\u00f3n y fragmentaci\u00f3n de gran complejidad que, parad\u00f3jicamente, no est\u00e1 llevando a un enriquecimiento de nuestra cultura visual. M\u00e1s bien parece que estamos sugestionados, afectados por una suerte de miop\u00eda. Hay quien ha llegado a afirmar con iron\u00eda que en la actualidad<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00abla forma sigue a la imagen\u00bb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00abPero ver no es nada: discernir lo es todo; y la ventaja del hombre sublime sobre el mediocre es elegir mejor lo que le conviene\u00bb. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ante este horizonte,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00bfno es esta afirmaci\u00f3n de Milizia m\u00e1s contempor\u00e1nea que nunca?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"Prrafobsico\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">As\u00ed, esta exposici\u00f3n (que incluye tambi\u00e9n proyectos audiovisuales, comisariados, performances&#8230;) plantea la arquitectura no como un arte o una t\u00e9cnica acotada a las construcciones funcionales para la vida humana, sino que incluye tambi\u00e9n el conjunto de edificaciones que se quedaron en fase de proyecto o incluso aquello que se dise\u00f1\u00f3 sin aspiraci\u00f3n a convertirse en realidad. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Prrafobsico\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">El <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/exposiciones\/atlas-teorias-arquitectura\/\" target=\"_blank\">C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes<\/a> ha editado un libro a prop\u00f3sito de esta exposici\u00f3n que re\u00fane textos de, entre otros, Philip Ursprung, Hanno Walter Kruft, Juan Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez Le\u00f3n, Davide Tommaso Ferrando, L\u00e9a-Catherine Szacka o Rodrigo de la O (comisario de la exposici\u00f3n y coordinador del volumen). It is an exhibition in the plural, since there is no single way of conceiving what architecture is, how it is done and how it should be understood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Prrafobsico\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Architecture, like any discipline, develops its theory in words; but, together, it is capable of thinking about images. Already in the Renaissance, when the humanists decided to order knowledge about the <em>art of building<\/em>, they opted mainly to mix word and image in their treatises. The image occupied the existing rift between the idealism of the word and the realism of the present, without being confused with any. But,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>What does the image do to the theory?<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As a form of cultural production,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Can you propose through buildings or cities the significant vision of a new and better world?<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Atlas of Theory(s) of Architecture<\/strong> <\/em>is a visual sample of different ways of seeing the art of building: different ways of conceiving what architecture is, how it is done and how it should be understood. Each generation of architects has had to rewrite history from their own present and, consequently, also develop their own theory &#8211; which, like a ghost, is urgently presented to them over and over again. There is no theory without history but, as atlases of images, the exhibition prefers to trace alternative classifications to temporal succession. Because the theory of architecture is shaped, in reality, as a multiplicity of theories of architecture that are connected, in turn, by a multiplicity of historical relationships.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a kind of <em>Wunderkammer<\/em>, room of wonders or cabinet of curiosities, the exhibition gathers more than fifty original documents yielded by the Canadian Center for Architecture and the Library of the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid: engravings of <strong>Piranesi, Palladio<\/strong> or <strong>Cesariano<\/strong>; montages by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/biografia\/peter-eisenman\/\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Eisenman<\/a><\/strong>; project presentations by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/biografia\/le-corbusier\/\" target=\"_blank\">Le Corbusier<\/a><\/strong><strong>, Gunnar Asplund<\/strong> or <strong>Karl Friedrich Schinkel<\/strong>; conceptual drawings by <strong>Aldo Rossi<\/strong> or <strong>John Hejduk<\/strong>; unique projections by <strong>James Stirling<\/strong> or <strong>Auguste Choisy<\/strong>; advertising messages of <strong>Cedric Price <\/strong>or<strong> Bernard Tschumi<\/strong>; posters by <strong>Daniel Libeskind<\/strong>; archaeological surveys of <strong>Le Roy <\/strong>or<strong> Hittorff<\/strong>; or urban utopias of<strong> Scamozzi <\/strong>or<strong> Frank Lloyd Wright<\/strong>. The architect, like any user, has at his disposal a seemingly unlimited repository of images with just typing in the browser. It has networks and platforms to share them, to create and manage collections and boards. Just one click for an algorithm to locate hundreds of examples of similar appearance. A process of accumulation and fragmentation of great complexity that, paradoxically, is not leading to an enrichment of our visual culture. Rather it seems that we are sugested, affected by a kind of myopia. Some have come to affirm with irony that nowadays<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00abThe form follows the image\u00bb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00abBut seeing is nothing: discerning is everything; and the advantage of the sublime man over the mediocre is to choose better what suits him\u00bb. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Against this horizon,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Is not this affirmation of Milizia more contemporary than ever?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"Prrafobsico\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thus, this exhibition (which also includes audiovisual projects, curated, performances &#8230;) raises the architecture not as an art or a technique limited to the functional constructions for human life, but also includes the set of buildings that remained in project phase or even that which was designed without aspiration to become reality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Prrafobsico\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.circulobellasartes.com\/exposiciones\/atlas-teorias-arquitectura\/\" target=\"_blank\">C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes<\/a> has published a book about this exhibition that brings together texts by, among others, Philip Ursprung, Hanno Walter Kruft, Juan Miguel Hernandez Leon, Davide Tommaso Ferrando, L\u00e9a-Catherine Szacka or Rodrigo de la O (curator of the exhibition and volume coordinator).
