Nadie se ha aventurado a un experimento peligroso como este\u201d,<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">han sido las palabras de agradecimiento de Hyungmin Pai, uno de los comisarios del pabell\u00f3n de Corea, a la hora de agradecer el premio de la Bienal. Peligroso porque exponer paralelamente la aproximaci\u00f3n a la modernidad de los dos pa\u00edses significa situar la arquitectura en el plano del debate geopol\u00edtico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hace m\u00e1s de 60 a\u00f1os que la pen\u00ednsula coreana vive en un estado de fr\u00e1gil armisticio \u2013no de paz- que cada primavera, aproximadamente, se ve amenazada por unas maniobras militares de los dos bandos. Los dos pa\u00edses tienen leyes que proh\u00edben o controlan cualquier movimiento de aproximaci\u00f3n. Si un surcoreano posee literatura norcoreana o tiene contactos con la gente del norte, lo tiene que declarar a las autoridades. Un norcoreano no puede acceder a publicaciones sudcoreanas de ning\u00fan tipo y la entrada de la gente sud est\u00e1 vetada por las autoridades del norte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un primer acercamiento ocurri\u00f3 en 1988 cuando <strong>Storefront for Art and Architecture<\/strong> de Nueva York organiz\u00f3 una exposici\u00f3n a cargo del arquitecto y artista<strong> Kyong Park<\/strong>, titulada <strong>\u201cDMZ Project\u201d<\/strong>. DMZ (por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) designan la Zona Desmilitarizada, una franja de 4km de ancho establecida tras la devastadora guerra de Corea (1950-53) que traviesa la pen\u00ednsula de mar a mar, unos 250km, separando los dos pa\u00edses. Es un eufemismo: es la franja m\u00e1s militarizada en todo el mundo y un espejo en el que se miran los gobiernos hostiles de Pyongyang y Se\u00fal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hab\u00eda 68 propuestas en aquella exposici\u00f3n, ninguna directamente coreana y algunas muy interesantes de <strong>Paul Virilio<\/strong>, <strong>Neil Denari<\/strong> o <strong>Lebbeus Woods<\/strong> que estudiaban ocupar esta tierra de nadie, antes de eliminarla. En consecuencia, Woods se imaginaba una fant\u00e1stica estructura met\u00e1lica que se sobrepon\u00eda al territorio contaminado militarmente e ideol\u00f3gicamente, llam\u00e1ndola \u201c<strong>Terra Nova<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Habr\u00eda sido un espacio de debate entre los modelos sociales opuestos y no un territorio o una construcci\u00f3n para fundir las diferencias y la estructura crecer\u00eda para cubrir, poco a poco a toda la pen\u00ednsula.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-68239 gallery-columns-3 trata de entender las diferencias, sin huir tampoco de las similitudes. Sin embargo, ha acabado siendo otra vez un debate indirecto: tras mil intentos, principalmente del comisario <strong>Minsuk Cho,<\/strong> de ponerse en contacto con los arquitectos de Pyongyang e iniciar un proceso directo de reflexi\u00f3n sobre las dos caras de la modernidad, la exposici\u00f3n se tuvo que basar en las investigaciones sobre la arquitectura en Corea del Norte realizada por los arquitectos surcoreanos y extranjeros.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hay que esperar todav\u00eda a una muestra de arquitectura realizada por los arquitectos norcoreanos y dirigida al p\u00fablico mundial. Preferiblemente una muestra o quiz\u00e1s un encuentro con los arquitectos norcoreanos que no busque ejemplificar una serie de t\u00f3picos y corroborar las im\u00e1genes prefiguradas \u2013y preciosas- de una arquitectura de gran escala, mon\u00f3tona y solitaria, sin mantenimiento, envuelta en el <em>kitsch<\/em> pol\u00edtico del realismo socialista.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' contacto profesional con el extranjero, adem\u00e1s de interminables niveles de control, censura y autocensura. La lista de organismos o funcionarios que tienen que poner su sello sobre una iniciativa de este tipo es tan grande que la renuncia al contacto viene a ser un acto de auto-liberaci\u00f3n e incluso de auto-afirmaci\u00f3n. Otro posible problema es la esencia representativa de la arquitectura norcoreana y de su organizaci\u00f3n profesional.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Es una arquitectura herm\u00e9tica y auto-centrada, que nace de las m\u00faltiples oposiciones: hac\u00eda el propio pasado burgu\u00e9s o religioso, la herencia del colonialismo, hac\u00eda el mundo capitalista y el retraso econ\u00f3mico de sus provincias. Se desarrolla paralelamente al discurso pol\u00edtico del nuevo estado socialista (desde 1948 y sobre todo desde 1953) y es llamada a representar los valores de la modernidad, del progreso tecnol\u00f3gico y de ejemplificar la igualdad y la justicia social. Mediante la obra construida, Corea del Norte se ha acercado al mundo moderno, competido con los pa\u00edses socialistas y se ha medido con los capitalistas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El contenido propagand\u00edstico asociado a la arquitectura y la construcci\u00f3n, orientado siempre m\u00e1s hacia el interior que hac\u00eda el exterior, los ha convertido en beneficiarios de la m\u00e1xima inversi\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica y de la m\u00e1xima atenci\u00f3n del r\u00e9gimen. La arquitectura concebida por los arquitectos de\u00a0 <strong>Kim Il-Sung<\/strong> pertenece m\u00e1s a un ideal futuro del socialismo desarrollado que al pasado, pero al mismo tiempo no renuncia a sus ra\u00edces en la tradici\u00f3n y su proximidad con los gustos y h\u00e1bitos populares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El punto central de la creaci\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nica en Corea del Norte es la figura del l\u00edder quien es considerado el autor supremo de toda construcci\u00f3n. De hecho, el libro te\u00f3rico m\u00e1s importante es <strong>\u201cEl Arte Arquitect\u00f3nico\u201d<\/strong> firmado por <strong>Kim Jong-Il<\/strong> y publicado en 1991, en el momento culminante de la edad de oro de la arquitectura socialista norcoreana. La figura del arquitecto es mucho m\u00e1s marginal (o inexistente) en comparaci\u00f3n con el occidente, para no restar importancia a la iniciativa del l\u00edder. La habitual complejidad del proceso constructivo y su car\u00e1cter multidisciplinario se extienden tambi\u00e9n al proceso proyectual, por tanto, la obra arquitect\u00f3nica es considerada un hecho colectivo. La figura del arquitecto autor se desvanece entre todos los actores implicados en la realizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Todos ellos construyen siguiendo el mandato del l\u00edder para el bienestar del pueblo y, al mismo tiempo, como los representantes del pueblo, trabajan para contentar las m\u00e1s altas expectativas del l\u00edder y del partido. Arquitectos como <strong>Paek Si Ha<\/strong>, creador de los primeros tejados de estilo neotradicional, <strong>Ham Ui Yon<\/strong>, dise\u00f1ador del Palacio del Estudio del Pueblo o Yong Myong Ho, arquitecto de la Torre Juche, ser\u00edan en el occidente arquitectos estrella. En Corea del Norte,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201caunque posean extraordinaria sabidur\u00eda e inteligencia y profundos conocimientos cient\u00edficos, no pueden idear y proyectar sint\u00e9ticamente las obras de largo alcance como la creaci\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nica\u201d,<sup>1\u00a0<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">sino que<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cson simples t\u00e9cnicos que hacen realidad el pensamiento del l\u00edder\u201d.<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para Kim Jong Il, una obra bien dise\u00f1ada s\u00f3lo puede generar una \u00fanica interpretaci\u00f3n, acorde con la idea Juche, ideolog\u00eda oficial del estado. Ambig\u00fcedades, dobles lecturas, iron\u00edas o citas, son signos de dise\u00f1o deficiente o de formalismo burgu\u00e9s. Con la simplicidad propia del realismo socialista, la arquitectura Juche, nacional en la forma y socialista en el contenido, educa las masas, los ense\u00f1a a entender y utilizar el espacio construido.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por todas estas condicionantes, la arquitectura norcoreana reh\u00faye las comparaciones, no acepta representaciones paralelas y su primera exigencia respecto a la bienal fue de ser representada en un espacio separado. Tambi\u00e9n representa el ideal de progreso tecnol\u00f3gico y de la modernidad m\u00e1s vanguardista, con bases totalmente opuestas al norte. Corea del Sur, conocida como el tigre asi\u00e1tico ha hecho el salto econ\u00f3mico espectacular, viniendo de un pa\u00eds muy castigado por la guerra y hasta bien entrados los a\u00f1os 70, menos pr\u00f3spero que su vecino. A pesar de las hostilidades y distancias ideol\u00f3gicas, los dos pa\u00edses se han mirado en el espejo impuesto de la DMZ.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El caso m\u00e1s conocido fue el de los Juegos Ol\u00edmpicos de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanlivinglab.net\/mass-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\">Se\u00fal<\/a> de 1988 que Pyongyang quiso coorganizar y ante la negativa, organiz\u00f3 un evento casi paralelo: el <strong>XIII Festival Mundial de la Juventud y los Estudiantes<\/strong>, invirtiendo cantidades impensables en la construcci\u00f3n de equipamientos y nuevos barrios de Pyongyang. Adem\u00e1s, plantea bases conceptuales para establecer el contacto directo entre los arquitectos. Una posible v\u00eda parte de la individualidad del proceso creativo que en Corea del Norte tambi\u00e9n existe a pesar de la colectivizaci\u00f3n de la obra arquitect\u00f3nica. La iniciativa llamada <strong>Utopian Tours<\/strong> consiste de proyectos ut\u00f3picos que exploran el futuro del turismo en Corea del Norte, comisionados individualmente, sin la intervenci\u00f3n del estado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El resultado son proyectos divertidos, algunos parecidos a la arquitectura neo nacional, otros que recuerdan a grandes obras de Pyongyang, pero todos tecnol\u00f3gicamente muy avanzados y m\u00e1s respetuosos con el medio ambiente en comparaci\u00f3n con la obra existente. trans-coreano auto-organizado y an\u00e1rquico llamado <strong>Occupy DMZ<\/strong> que se basa en el desencanto colectivo de ambas sociedades con sus respectivos gobiernos que se al\u00edan, hipot\u00e9ticamente, para perpetuar el conflicto y mantener as\u00ed los intereses electorales propios.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El movimiento se erige por encima de los gobiernos Perigoso porque expo\u00f1er paralelamente a aproximaci\u00f3n \u00e1 modernidade dos dous pa\u00edses significa situar a arquitectura no plano do debate xeopol\u00edtico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hai m\u00e1is de 60 anos que a pen\u00ednsula coreana vive nun estado de fr\u00e1xil armisticio \u2013non de paz- que cada primavera, aproximadamente, vese ameazada por unhas manobras militares dos dous bandos. Os dous pa\u00edses te\u00f1en leis que prohiben ou controlan calquera movemento de aproximaci\u00f3n. Se un surcoreano pos\u00fae literatura norcoreana ou ten contactos coa xente do norte, teno que declarar \u00e1s autoridades. Un norcoreano non pode acceder a publicaci\u00f3ns sudcoreanas de ning\u00fan tipo e a entrada da xente sud est\u00e1 vetada polas autoridades do norte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un primeiro achegamento ocorreu en 1988 cando <strong>Storefront for Art and Architecture<\/strong> de Nova York organizou unha exposici\u00f3n a cargo do arquitecto e artista <strong>Kyong Park<\/strong>, titulada \u201c<strong>DMZ Project<\/strong>\u201d. DMZ (polas s\u00faas siglas en ingl\u00e9s) designan a Zona Desmilitarizada, unha franxa de 4km de ancho establecida tras a devastadora guerra de Corea (1950-53) que travesa a pen\u00ednsula de mar a mar, un 250km, separando os dous pa\u00edses. \u00c9 un eufemismo: \u00e9 a franxa m\u00e1is militarizada en todo o mundo e un espello no que se miran os gobernos host\u00eds de Pyongyang e Se\u00fal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hab\u00eda 68 propostas naquela exposici\u00f3n, ningunha directamente coreana e algunhas moi interesantes de <strong>Paul Virilio<\/strong>, <strong>Neil Denari<\/strong> ou <strong>Lebbeus Woods<\/strong> que estudaban ocupar esta terra de ningu\u00e9n, antes de eliminala. En consecuencia, Woods imaxin\u00e1base unha fant\u00e1stica estrutura met\u00e1lica que se sobrepo\u00f1\u00eda ao territorio contaminado militarmente e ideol\u00f3gicamente, cham\u00e1ndoa \u201c<strong>Terra Nova<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ser\u00eda un espazo de debate entre os modelos sociais opostos e non un territorio ou unha construci\u00f3n para Con todo, acabou sendo outra vez un debate indirecto: tras mil intentos, principalmente do comisario <strong>Minsuk Cho<\/strong>, de po\u00f1erse en contacto cos arquitectos de Pyongyang e iniciar un proceso directo de reflexi\u00f3n sobre as d\u00faas caras da modernidade, a exposici\u00f3n t\u00edvose que basear nas investigaci\u00f3ns sobre a arquitectura en Corea do Norte realizada polos arquitectos surcoreanos e estranxeiros.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hai que esperar a\u00ednda a unha mostra de arquitectura realizada polos arquitectos norcoreanos e dirixida ao p\u00fablico mundial. Preferiblemente unha mostra ou quizais un encontro cos arquitectos norcoreanos que non busque ejemplificar unha serie de t\u00f3picos e corroborar as imaxes prefiguradas \u2013e preciosas- dunha arquitectura de gran escala, mon\u00f3tona e solitaria, sen mantemento, envolvida no <em>kitsch<\/em> pol\u00edtico do realismo socialista.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-5' class='gallery galleryid-68239 contacto profesional co estranxeiro, ademais de interminables niveis de control, censura e autocensura. A lista de organismos ou funcionarios que te\u00f1en que po\u00f1er o seu selo sobre unha iniciativa deste tipo \u00e9 tan grande que a renuncia ao contacto v\u00e9n ser un acto de auto-liberaci\u00f3n e mesmo de auto-afirmaci\u00f3n. Outro posible problema \u00e9 a esencia representativa da arquitectura norcoreana e da s\u00faa organizaci\u00f3n profesional.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c9 unha arquitectura herm\u00e9tica e auto-centrada, que nace das m\u00faltiples oposici\u00f3ns: fac\u00eda o propio pasado burgu\u00e9s ou relixioso, a herdanza do colonialismo, fac\u00eda o mundo capitalista e o atraso econ\u00f3mico das s\u00faas provincias. Desenv\u00f3lvese paralelamente ao discurso pol\u00edtico do novo estado socialista (desde 1948 e sobre todo desde 1953) e \u00e9 chamada a representar os valores da modernidade, do progreso tecnol\u00f3xico e de ejemplificar a igualdade e a xustiza social. Mediante a obra constru\u00edda, Corea do Norte achegouse ao mundo moderno, competido cos pa\u00edses socialistas e mediuse cos capitalistas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O contido propagand\u00edstico asociado \u00e1 arquitectura e a construci\u00f3n, orientado sempre m\u00e1is cara ao interior que fac\u00eda o exterior, converteunos en beneficiarios do m\u00e1ximo investimento econ\u00f3mico e da m\u00e1xima atenci\u00f3n do r\u00e9xime. A arquitectura concibida polos arquitectos de <strong>Kim Il- Sung<\/strong> pertence m\u00e1is a un ideal futuro do socialismo desenvolvido que ao pasado, pero ao mesmo tempo non renuncia \u00e1s s\u00faas ra\u00edces na tradici\u00f3n e a s\u00faa proximidade cos gustos e h\u00e1bitos populares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O punto central da creaci\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nica en Corea do Norte \u00e9 a figura do l\u00edder quen \u00e9 considerado o autor supremo de toda construci\u00f3n. De feito, o libro te\u00f3rico m\u00e1is importante \u00e9 <strong>\u201cA arte Arquitect\u00f3nica\u201d<\/strong> asinada por <strong>Kim Jong- Il<\/strong> e publicado en 1991, no momento culminante da idade de ouro da arquitectura socialista norcoreana. A figura do arquitecto \u00e9 moito m\u00e1is marxinal (ou inexistente) en comparaci\u00f3n co occidente, para non restar importancia \u00e1 iniciativa do l\u00edder. A habitual complexidade do proceso construtivo e o seu car\u00e1cter multidisciplinario est\u00e9ndense tam\u00e9n ao proceso proyectual, por tanto, a obra arquitect\u00f3nica \u00e9 considerada un feito colectivo. A figura do arquitecto autor desvan\u00e9cese entre todos os actores implicados na realizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Todos eles constr\u00faen seguindo o mandato do l\u00edder para o benestar do pobo e, ao mesmo tempo, como os representantes do pobo, traballan para contentar as m\u00e1is altas expectativas do l\u00edder e do partido. Arquitectos como <strong>Paek Si Ha<\/strong>, creador dos primeiros tellados de estilo neotradicional, <strong>Ham Ui Ion<\/strong>, dese\u00f1ador do Palacio do Estudo do Pobo ou Yong Myong Ho, arquitecto da Torre Juche, ser\u00edan no occidente arquitectos estrela. En Corea do Norte,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201ca\u00ednda que pos\u00faan extraordinaria sabedor\u00eda e intelixencia e profundos co\u00f1ecementos cient\u00edficos, non poden idear e proxectar sint\u00e9ticamente as obras de longo alcance como a creaci\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nica\u201d,<sup>1\u00a0<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">sen\u00f3n que<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cson simples t\u00e9cnicos que fan realidade o pensamento do l\u00edder\u201d.<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para Kim Jong Il, unha obra ben dese\u00f1ada s\u00f3 pode xerar unha \u00fanica interpretaci\u00f3n, acorde coa idea Juche, ideolox\u00eda oficial do estado. Ambig\u00fcidades, dobres lecturas, iron\u00edas ou citas, son signos de dese\u00f1o deficiente ou de formalismo burgu\u00e9s. Coa simplicidade propia do realismo socialista, a arquitectura Juche, nacional na forma e socialista no contido, educa as masas, a insignia para entender e utilizar o espazo constru\u00eddo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por todas estas condicionantes, a arquitectura norcoreana reh\u00faye as comparaci\u00f3ns, non acepta representaci\u00f3ns paralelas e a s\u00faa primeira esixencia respecto da bienal foi de ser representada nun espazo separado. Nobody has risked to a dangerous experiment as this one\u201d,<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They have been the words of Hyungmin Pai&#8217;s gratefulness, one of the commissioners of the pavilion of Korea, at the moment of being grateful for the prize of the Biennial show. Dangerous because to expose parallel the approximation to the modernity of both countries means to place the architecture in the plane of the geopolitical discussion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It does more than 60 years that the Korean peninsula lives in a condition of fragile armistice &#8211; not of peace &#8211; that every spring, approximately, sees threatened by a few military maneuvers of both decrees. Both countries have laws that proh\u00edben or they control any movement of approximation. If a South Korean possesses North Korean literature or has contacts with the people of the north, it it has to declare to the authorities. A North Korean cannot accede to publications sudcoreanas of any type and the entry of the people south is vetada for the authorities of the north.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first approximation happened in 1988 when <strong>Storefront for Art and Architecture of New York<\/strong> organized an exhibition at the expense of the architect and artist <strong>Kyong Park<\/strong>, titled <strong>\u201cDMZ Project\u201d<\/strong>. DMZ (for his initials in English) designates the Demilitarized Zone, a band of 4km of width established after the devastating war of Korea (1950-53) that naughty the peninsula of sea to sea, some 250km, separating both countries. It is an euphemism: it is the band most militarized in the whole world and a mirror in which there look the hostile governments of Pyongyang and Seoul.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were 68 offers in that exhibition, directly Korean none and very interesting some of <strong>Paul Virilio, Neil Denari<\/strong> or <strong>Lebbeus Woods<\/strong> who were studying to occupy this land of nobody, before eliminating it. In consequence, Woods was imagining a fantastic metallic structure that was recovering from the territory contaminated militarily and ideologically, being calling her \u201c<strong>Terra Nova<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It would have been a space of debate between the social opposite models and not a territory or a construction to fuse the differences and includes and tries to understand the differences, without not fleeing of the similarities either. Nevertheless, it has finished being again an indirect debate: after thousand attempts, principally of the commissioner <strong>Minsuk Cho<\/strong>, of putting in touch with the architects of Pyongyang and initiating a direct process of reflection on both faces of the modernity, the exhibition had to be based on the investigations on the architecture on North Korea realized by the South Korean and foreign architects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is necessary to wait still to a sample of architecture realized by the architects North Korean and directed the world public. Preferably a sample or probably a meeting with the North Korean architects that it does not seek to exemplify a series of topics and to corroborate the prefigured images &#8211; and precious &#8211; of an architecture of great scale, monotonous and solitary, without maintenance, wrapped in the political <em>kitsch<\/em> of the socialist realism.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-8' class='gallery In fact, the most important theoretical book is <strong>\u201cThe Architectural Art\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0signed by <strong>Kim Jong-Il<\/strong> and published in 1991, in the culminating moment of the golden age of the socialist North Korean architecture. The figure of the architect is much more marginal (or non-existent) in comparison with the west, not to reduce importance to the initiative of the leader.
