La espa\u00f1ola ha apuntado, por ejemplo, que los r\u00edgidos l\u00edmites temporales que determinaban que la mejor estructura de un d\u00eda \u20148 horas para dormir, 8 para trabajar y 8 para disfrutar\u2014que dieron forma a buena parte de la ciudad y el urbanismo durante el siglo XX a trav\u00e9s de su clara separaci\u00f3n de usos, se ha transformado ahora bajo el designio de las nuevas f\u00f3rmulas de trabajo. En una de sus \u00faltimas investigaciones \u2014desarrollada en distintos textos como <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/3869845287?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=3869845287&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The century of the bed<\/em><\/a>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.es\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;sqi=2&amp;ved=0ahUKEwigi-e-uNvSAhXMK8AKHVGwCUEQFggdMAA&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Farchitecture.mit.edu%2Fsites%2Farchitecture.mit.edu%2Ffiles%2Fattachments%2Flecture%2FOfficeUS-Agenda_Intro.pdf&amp;usg=AFQjCNEPJ1e0Ugk5g6jcGHc3KlNj2OxhvQ&amp;sig2=fHXNJkmV--583olqLbNgZw&amp;bvm=bv.149760088,d.ZGg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Office in the Boudoir<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>o\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.es\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=2&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwj78ofMuNvSAhWEJMAKHXP0BZQQtwIIIjAB&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D1AFACqxgzHs&amp;usg=AFQjCNGE5e61aYFs0bnWRt6a7moBFhks0g&amp;sig2=t5L4S4xui3jYtiabwd8zjA&amp;bvm=bv.149760088,d.ZGg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Privacy and publicity in the age of social media<\/em><\/a><sup>1<\/sup>\u2014 se sirve de un dato destacado en 2012 por el peri\u00f3dico\u00a0<em>The Wall Street Journal<\/em>\u00a0que advierte que el 80% de los profesionales j\u00f3venes de la ciudad de Nueva York trabajan desde sus propias camas gracias a sus ordenadores port\u00e1tiles:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c[la cama] se ha convertido en el lugar donde realmente la gente no s\u00f3lo trabaja, sino que tambi\u00e9n se conecta\u201d(*).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aunque las transformaciones econ\u00f3micas que ha sufrido el mundo en las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas resultan demasiado complejas como para establecerlas en este texto de forma detallada y precisa, no nos costar\u00eda mucho imaginar c\u00f3mo, con el traslado de las grandes f\u00e1bricas de producci\u00f3n y montaje a zonas de Asia \u2014donde la mano de obra resulta mucho m\u00e1s barata\u2014 el trabajo industrial ha ido desapareciendo cada vez m\u00e1s de las periferias de las grandes ciudades, desplazadas hacia otras m\u00e1s lejanas, dejando en el camino \u2014especialmente en Europa\u2014 muchas \u00e1reas en desuso que tienen ahora la necesidad de transformarse en nuevos fen\u00f3menos urbanos que las vuelva, una vez m\u00e1s, productivas. El trabajo \u2014en el denominado\u00a0<em>primer mundo<\/em>\u00a0al menos\u2014 alcanza ahora un rango inmaterial, m\u00e1s cercano a un servicio que a la producci\u00f3n de mercanc\u00eda<sup>4<\/sup>. En su texto\u00a0<em>Liberarse de todo: trabajo freelance y mercenario<\/em>\u00a0\u2014publicado como parte del libro\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/9871622317?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=9871622317&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Los condenados de la pantalla<\/em><\/a>\u2014 la artista alemana <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hito_Steyerl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hito Steyerl<\/a><\/strong> analiza esta figura.\u00a0<em>Free-lance<\/em>\u00a0significa literalmente \u201cLanza libre\u201d y su origen se traza hasta el medievo, donde el t\u00e9rmino designaba a aquel soldado que no estaba\u00a0<em>atado<\/em>\u00a0a ning\u00fan amo, pudiendo ser contratado para tareas muy espec\u00edficas durante un tiempo. Sin compromiso en el tiempo con una gran empresa \u2014de la que no recibe ni contrato ni prestaciones\u2014 el\u00a0<em>freelance<\/em>\u00a0contempor\u00e1neo es el mejor exponente de la precariedad actual, siempre en la b\u00fasqueda de nuevos trabajos que garanticen sus recursos por alg\u00fan tiempo y que les lleva a la autoexplotaci\u00f3n en largas jornadas laborales autoimpuestas:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEn situaciones como Nueva York, donde el espacio es muy reducido y donde la mayor\u00eda de la gente vive en un estudio que pr\u00e1cticamente abres la puerta y te tiras en la cama, \u00e9sta se ha convertido en el centro del universo, un universo en el que no hay ni noche ni d\u00eda\u201d(*).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As\u00ed, no se trabaja s\u00f3lo en la cama porque estos nuevos trabajadores no tengan su oficina como forma de reducir costos \u2014que tambi\u00e9n\u2014 sino que el aumento del trabajo aut\u00f3nomo desde nuestros hogares, apoyado por la portabilidad de nuestras fuentes de trabajo \u2014ordenadores cada vez m\u00e1s ligeros y potentes\u2014 repercute tambi\u00e9n en las din\u00e1micas laborales y sociales que suceden en nuestra vida diaria, reorganizando la forma en la que ocupamos el tiempo y el espacio.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Citizenfour Official Trailer 1 (2014) - Edward Snowden Documentary HD\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XiGwAvd5mvM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No es descabellado asegurar que hoy en nuestras camas ya ni dormimos, ni descansamos, ni disfrutamos alg\u00fan tipo de placer. Condenados a la pantalla, nos mantenemos en vilo, siempre despiertos y conectados, trabajando para poder llegar a fin de mes. En este nuevo mundo \u2014apunta Colomina\u2014 la cama se ha convertido en un nuevo escenario para algunas conquistas: la de la autonom\u00eda del trabajo propio o la de las corporaciones que contratan a este trabajador horizontal sin necesidad de invertir en nuevos espacios e infraestructuras arquitect\u00f3nicas. Gracias a esta reformulaci\u00f3n espacial y temporal de nuestros lechos, nuestros cuerpos quedan ahora reducidos a vagar en los espacios dom\u00e9sticos interiores \u2014algo que puede ilustrar tambi\u00e9n la destrucci\u00f3n sistem\u00e1tica que sufre el espacio p\u00fablico\u2014 y en el que el trabajo, en muchos casos, se somete a un constante monitoreo<sup>3<\/sup>. Esto lo advierte tambi\u00e9n Beatriz Colomina:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEn la pel\u00edcula de Laura Poitras\u00a0<em>Citizenfour<\/em>, vemos primeros planos de Edward Snowden sentado en la cama de un hotel de Hong Kong durante d\u00edas y d\u00edas, rodeado de sus ordenadores port\u00e1tiles, en comunicaci\u00f3n con periodistas en la habitaci\u00f3n y alrededor del mundo, sobre el secreto de la masiva vigilancia global. M\u00e1s bien, me interesa entender c\u00f3mo las representaciones de la arquitectura, el paisaje, el dise\u00f1o o el territorio construyen y materializan determinados discursos ideol\u00f3gicos, imponiendo posturas, subjetividades y formas de acci\u00f3n sobre los cuerpos que la habitan. En mi trabajo edito estos discursos \u2013sus im\u00e1genes, sus historias o sus restos materiales\u2013 y reelaboro comentarios cr\u00edticos que ponen en evidencia sus controversias y contradicciones, formaliz\u00e1ndolos en diversos formatos como textos, fotograf\u00edas, v\u00eddeos, objetos o instalaciones, muchas veces entrecruzados entre s\u00ed. He publicado art\u00edculos y ensayos en diversos medios de Estados Unidos, Italia, Croacia, Espa\u00f1a, Chile y M\u00e9xico.
