Su papel como agente dinamizador de la actividad econ\u00f3mica y cultural del mundo, el <em>progreso<\/em>, ha configurado conurbaciones de consumo, mega-estructuras desconectadas de los ciclos de la naturaleza, la energ\u00eda o los recursos. La Ciudad Gen\u00e9rica <em>pesa<\/em> demasiado para el Mundo: superficial, desestructurada, hiperdensa, polucionada, \u201csupremamente inorg\u00e1nica\u201d<sup>1<\/sup>, la ciudad <em>impermeable\u00a0<\/em>en la que el imaginario de un afuera natural se reduce al buc\u00f3lico artificial de los lagos en el campo de golf, o la nieve industrial pulverizada sobre la pista de esqu\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ha llegado el momento de pactar con la Naturaleza:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00abcada \u00e9poca sue\u00f1a con la siguiente\u00bb.<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para Le Corbusier la ciudad representaba la verdadera <em>Casa del Hombre<\/em>, entendida siempre desde una aproximaci\u00f3n higienista y de recuperaci\u00f3n de los placeres esenciales, es decir el sol, el aire, el agua, la vegetaci\u00f3n, el paisaje:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHay que reconquistar los horizontes. Hay que volver a plantar \u00e1rboles\u201d.<sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fernando Higueras daba un paso m\u00e1s al convertir algunos de sus proyectos en edenes habitados por plantas y animales:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cQu\u00e9 pena elogiar un nuevo tipo de cubierta porque ni un solo p\u00e1jaro ha conseguido anidar en ella; aqu\u00ed gorriones, mirlos, abubillas: un nido por vigueta. Murci\u00e9lagos tambi\u00e9n. En vez de pradera norte\u00f1a, tan adecuada en la meseta castellana, el bosque de espinos, dislate ayer para los t\u00e9cnicos paisajistas, hoy refugio para varias familias de gatos protectores\u201d.<sup>4<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fracasadas las nuevas ciudades ut\u00f3picas socialistas en Europa y posteriormente en Norteam\u00e9rica, tanto como presentimos el destino fatal de la nueva y\u00a0autosuficiente\u00a0ciudad <em>smart<\/em>,\u00a0el presente nos ofrece la posibilidad de repensar la ciudad existente desde su activaci\u00f3n ambiental, biol\u00f3gica o ecosist\u00e9mica. Al margen de discursos primitivistas surgidos desde una adulterada imagen pastoril de la naturaleza, la ciudad contempor\u00e1nea precisa la recuperaci\u00f3n urgente de la utop\u00eda; la reinvenci\u00f3n de una nueva teor\u00eda de lo urbano desde la puesta en valor, tambi\u00e9n, de lo no humano; la ciudad como un paisaje capaz de recomponer la fr\u00e1gil belleza del mundo.
