En algunos medios acad\u00e9micos ese deseo, convertido en materia de estudio, se denomina (incorrectamente) Teor\u00eda de la Arquitectura. Que ser\u00eda un cuerpo de ideas, conceptos, puntos de vista, que buscan explicar la arquitectura, entendiendo por explicaci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cel hacer patente el qu\u00e9, por qu\u00e9, para qu\u00e9, y el c\u00f3mo de las cosas y de los sucesos del mundo\u201d,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">definici\u00f3n que tomo a falta de otra mejor y que ha sido la sustancia del quehacer filos\u00f3fico durante siglos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cuando entr\u00e9 a estudiar Arquitectura en 1955, se ve\u00eda como \u201cteor\u00eda\u201d la c\u00e1tedra\u00a0 sobre \u201cIntroducci\u00f3n y Elementos de la Arquitectura\u201d, que ven\u00eda a ser como un discurso general sobre la arquitectura y el oficio de arquitecto. No hab\u00eda surgido todav\u00eda el oficio de \u201ccr\u00edtico de arquitectura\u201d; y quienes ejerc\u00edan esa funci\u00f3n lo hac\u00edan m\u00e1s bien desde la perspectiva del historiador. Sonaban mucho los nombres de Sigfried Giedion (1888-1968), de Lewis Mumford (1895-1990) y un poco menos Nikolaus Pevsner (1902-1983), todos historiadores. De Giedion nos recomendaban insistentemente leer \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/B00F4PXJT0?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=B00F4PXJT0&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Espacio, Tiempo y Arquitectura<\/a>\u201d; y cuando se hizo fuerte el prestigio de Bruno Zevi (1918-2000) leer\u00edamos \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8445500805?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=8445500805&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saber ver la Arquitectura<\/a>\u201d (1948) donde la historia era fundamento del juicio de valor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reyner Banham (1922-1988) o Leonardo Ben\u00e9volo (1923) cultivaron esa mirada, as\u00ed como en la d\u00e9cada siguiente Manfredo Tafuri (1935-1994). Giulio Carlo Argan (1909-1992) aunque bastante mayor que Zevi, irrumpe en el mundo de la cr\u00edtica m\u00e1s tarde, con su libro \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.opuslibros.org\/Index_libros\/Recensiones_1\/argan_pro.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proyecto y Destino<\/a>\u201d de 1965. Los nombres son muchos. La cr\u00edtica se institucionaliza\u2026y se empobrece el debate. Los cr\u00edticos reclaman autonom\u00eda (\u00bf?). Se pasa de una visi\u00f3n \u201csobre todo ideol\u00f3gica\u201d a una que quiere ser \u201csobre todo filos\u00f3fica\u201d. Un ejemplo de la primera podr\u00eda ser la cr\u00edtica (1956) de Giulio Carlo Argan a la iglesia de Ronchamp de Le Corbusier, a la cual consideraba, desde su marxismo, una traici\u00f3n al racionalismo del primer Corbu. Y de la segunda el famoso libro de Robert Venturi \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8425216028?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=8425216028&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complejidad y Contradicci\u00f3n en la Arquitectura<\/a>\u201d (1966) que es un inteligente resumen de muchas de las reflexiones sobre la arquitectura hist\u00f3rica que ven\u00edan circulando desde los a\u00f1os cincuenta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La famosa frase de Aldo Rossi (\u201cno hay justificaci\u00f3n ideol\u00f3gica para un puente que se cae\u201d) formulada por un hombre de formaci\u00f3n marxista, marca el abandono de \u201cese\u201d fardo ideol\u00f3gico. Rossi, ya no un historiador sino un arquitecto en ejercicio, llama a una visi\u00f3n de la ciudad m\u00e1s completa, valora el papel del monumento, de la memoria, recurre al concepto de la analog\u00eda entre ciudad nueva y ciudad de la memoria, rescata del desprecio im\u00e1genes de una arquitectura esencial: el techo a dos aguas, la ventana como perforaci\u00f3n, la simetr\u00eda barroca. Se establece la \u201ccita\u201d, el detalle que reproduce el viejo ornamento. Se convirti\u00f3 a Le Corbusier, como portavoz de lo moderno, en el enemigo visible. Y si \u00e9l hab\u00eda dicho que estaba \u201cfuera de todo prop\u00f3sito filos\u00f3fico\u201d correspond\u00eda refutarlo convirtiendo el filosofar en recurso central. Es esa\u00a0 la \u201cTeor\u00eda\u201d de la Arquitectura, que suplanta la de mis tiempos de estudiante. La manejan no s\u00f3lo historiadores sino arquitectos activos (adem\u00e1s de Rossi, Venturi, Eisenman, los Krier, etc.).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parten de la idea de que una construcci\u00f3n metaf\u00edsica tiene una correspondencia directa en una f\u00edsica, la arquitect\u00f3nica, olvidando (salvo Leon Krier, ide\u00f3logo nato) que todo razonar filos\u00f3fico para incidir en la acci\u00f3n se hace ideolog\u00eda, c\u00f3digo moral \u00e9tico y est\u00e9tico que dicta un modo de proceder t\u00e9cnico. El \u201cembrujo del lenguaje\u201d confunde. Para ir del discurso a la acci\u00f3n \u201cdentro\u201d de la disciplina se necesita una normativa ideol\u00f3gica de alcance t\u00e9cnico. Como que un edificio sea blanco, sobre pilotes, que la escala musical sea dodecaf\u00f3nica o que la pintura sea abstracta. El discurso filos\u00f3fico queda atr\u00e1s. Buscando escapar de una ideolog\u00eda se adopta otra. Es lo que estos pensadores-arquitectos hacen, en fin de cuentas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el fondo todo creador al seleccionar un color, un material, una armon\u00eda, lo hace a partir de una \u00e9tica (vinculada a una est\u00e9tica) que deriva de un cuerpo ideol\u00f3gico. Y ese creador puede ser grande o mediocre. Que ser\u00eda un corpo de ideas, conceptos, puntos de vista, que buscan explicar a arquitectura, entendendo por explicaci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201co facer patente o que, por que, para que, e o como das cousas e dos sucesos do mundo\u201d,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">definici\u00f3n que tomo a falta doutra mellor e que foi a sustancia do quefacer filos\u00f3fico durante s\u00e9culos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cando entrei a estudar Arquitectura en 1955, v\u00edase como \u201cteor\u00eda\u201d a c\u00e1tedra sobre \u201cIntroduci\u00f3n e Elementos da Arquitectura\u201d, que vi\u00f1a ser como un discurso xeral sobre a arquitectura e o oficio de arquitecto. Non xurdira a\u00ednda o oficio de \u201ccr\u00edtico de arquitectura\u201d; e quen exerc\u00eda esa funci\u00f3n fac\u00edano m\u00e1is ben desde a perspectiva do historiador. Soaban moito os nomes de Sigfried Giedion (1888-1968), de Lewis Mumford (1895-1990) e un pouco menos Nikolaus Pevsner (1902-1983), todos historiadores. De Giedion recomend\u00e1bannos insistentemente ler \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/B00F4PXJT0?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=B00F4PXJT0&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Espazo, Tempo e Arquitectura<\/a>\u201d; e cando se fixo forte o prestixio de Bruno Zevi (1918-2000) leriamos \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8445500805?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=8445500805&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saber ver a Arquitectura<\/a>\u201d (1948) onde a historia era fundamento do xu\u00edzo de valor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reyner Banham (1922-1988) ou Leonardo Ben\u00e9volo (1923) cultivaron esa mirada, as\u00ed como na d\u00e9cada seguinte Manfredo Tafuri (1935-1994). Giulio Carlo Argan (1909-1992) a\u00ednda que bastante maior que Zevi, irrompe no mundo da cr\u00edtica m\u00e1is tarde, co seu libro \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.opuslibros.org\/Index_libros\/Recensiones_1\/argan_pro.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proxecto e Destino<\/a>\u201d de 1965. Os nomes son moitos. A cr\u00edtica institucional\u00edzase&#8230; e se empobrece o debate. Os cr\u00edticos reclaman autonom\u00eda (?). P\u00e1sase dunha visi\u00f3n \u201csobre todo ideol\u00f3xica\u201d a unha que quere ser \u201csobre todo filos\u00f3fica\u201d. Un exemplo da primeira poder\u00eda ser a cr\u00edtica (1956) de Giulio Carlo Argan \u00e1 igrexa de Ronchamp de Lle Corbusier, \u00e1 cal consideraba, desde o seu marxismo, unha traiz\u00f3n ao racionalismo do primeiro Corbu. E da segunda o famoso libro de Robert Venturi \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8425216028?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=8425216028&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complexidade e Contradicci\u00f3n na Arquitectura<\/a>\u201d (1966) que \u00e9 un intelixente resumo de moitas das reflexi\u00f3ns sobre a arquitectura hist\u00f3rica que vi\u00f1an circulando desde os anos cincuenta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A famosa frase de Aldo Rossi (\u201cnon hai xustificaci\u00f3n ideol\u00f3xica para unha ponte que cae\u201d) formulada por un home de formaci\u00f3n marxista, marca o abandono de \u201cese\u201d fardo ideol\u00f3xico. Rossi, xa non un historiador sen\u00f3n un arquitecto en exercicio, chama a unha visi\u00f3n da cidade m\u00e1is completa, valora o papel do monumento, da memoria, recorre ao concepto da analog\u00eda entre cidade nova e cidade da memoria, rescata do desprezo imaxes dunha arquitectura esencial: o teito a d\u00faas augas, a xanela como perforaci\u00f3n, a simetr\u00eda barroca. Establ\u00e9cese a \u201ccita\u201d, o detalle que reproduce o vello ornamento. Converteuse a Lle Corbusier, como portavoz do moderno, no inimigo visible. E se el hab\u00eda devandito que estaba \u201cf\u00f3ra de todo prop\u00f3sito filos\u00f3fico\u201d correspond\u00eda refutarlo convertendo o filosofar en recurso central. \u00c9 esa a \u201cTeor\u00eda\u201d da Arquitectura, que suplanta a dos meus tempos de estudante. Man\u00e9xana non s\u00f3 historiadores sen\u00f3n arquitectos activos (ademais de Rossi, Venturi, Eisenman, os Krier, etc.).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parten da idea de que unha construci\u00f3n metaf\u00edsica ten unha correspondencia directa nunha f\u00edsica, a arquitect\u00f3nica, esquecendo (salvo Leon Krier, ide\u00f3logo nato) que todo razoar filos\u00f3fico para incidir na acci\u00f3n faise ideolox\u00eda, c\u00f3digo moral \u00e9tico e est\u00e9tico que dita un modo de proceder t\u00e9cnico. O \u201cencanto da linguaxe\u201d confunde. Para ir do discurso \u00e1 acci\u00f3n \u201cdentro\u201d da disciplina neces\u00edtase unha normativa ideol\u00f3xica de alcance t\u00e9cnico. Como que un edificio sexa branco, sobre pilotes, que a escala musical sexa dodecaf\u00f3nica ou que a pintura sexa abstracta. O discurso filos\u00f3fico queda atr\u00e1s. Buscando escapar dunha ideolox\u00eda ad\u00f3ptase outra. \u00c9 o que estes pensadores-arquitectos fan, en fin de contas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No fondo todo creador ao seleccionar unha cor, un material, unha harmon\u00eda, faio a partir dunha \u00e9tica (vinculada a unha est\u00e9tica) que deriva dun corpo ideol\u00f3xico. E ese creador pode ser grande ou mediocre. Todo o mundo a facer superficies alabeadas e traballar con redes espaciais!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero m\u00e1is vale non esquecer que as ideolox\u00edas son exclu\u00edntes, deben ser substitu\u00eddas por outras grazas \u00e1 achega do creador libre, do artes\u00e1n, do que constr\u00fae nun contexto cultural espec\u00edfico e non quere nin debe ser exclu\u00eddo. In some academic means this desire turned as for study, is named (incorrectly) A Theory of the Architecture. That would be a body of ideas, concepts, points of view, which seek to explain the architecture, dealing for explanation<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cto do patent what, why, for what, and how of the things and of the events of the world\u201d,<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">definition that I take for lack of better other one and that has been the substance of the philosophical occupation for centuries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When I began to study Architecture in 1955, the chair saw as \u201ctheory\u201d on \u201cIntroduction and Elements of the Architecture\u201d, that was coming to be like a general speech on the architecture and the architect&#8217;s trade. There had not arisen still the trade of \u201ccritic of architecture\u201d; and those who were exercising this function were doing it rather from the perspective of the historian. Giulio Carlo Argan (1909-1992) though major enough that Zevi, irrumpe in the world of the critique later, with his book \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.opuslibros.org\/Index_libros\/Recensiones_1\/argan_pro.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Project and Destination\u201d <\/a>of 1965. The names are great. The critique becomes institutionalized \u2026 and the debate is impoverished. The critics claim autonomy (\u00bf?). It passes of a vision \u201cespecially ideological\u201d to one that wants to be \u201cespecially philosophical\u201d. An example of the first one might be the critique (1956) of Giulio Carlo Argan to Ronchamp&#8217;s church of Him Corbusier, to which he was considering, from his Marxism, a perfidy to the rationalism of the first Corbu. And of second Robert Venturi&#8217;s famous book \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8425216028?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3626&amp;creativeASIN=8425216028&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=wwwveredeses-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complexity and Contradiction in the Architecture\u201d<\/a>\u00a0(1966) that it is an intelligent summary of many of the reflections on the historical architecture that they were coming circulating from the fifties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aldo Rossi&#8217;s famous phrase (\u201cthere is no ideological justification for a bridge that falls\u201d) formulated by a man of Marxist formation, marks the abandon of \u00abthis\u00bb ideological bale. Rossi, already not a historian but an architect in exercise, calls to a vision of the most complete city, values the paper of the monument, of the memory, resorts to the concept of the analogy between new city and city of the memory, rescues of the scorn images of an essential architecture: the ceiling to two waters, the window as perforation, the baroque symmetry. There is established the \u201cappointment\u201d, the detail that reproduces the old ornament.
