Aunque admiro enormemente la obra del artista (belga)mexicano, mi conocimiento sobre su trabajo se resume a los cl\u00e1sicos clich\u00e9s: \u201cestudi\u00f3 arquitectura\u201d, \u201clleg\u00f3 a M\u00e9xico en el 86 tras el terremoto\u201d, \u201ctrabajaba recorriendo el centro de la ciudad\u201d, \u201chace caminatas en el espacio p\u00fablico\u201d, etc, etc. Una visi\u00f3n \u2013explicada aqu\u00ed de forma conscientemente reducida\u2013 que quiere dejar a entrever que esto no es sino una lectura acotada y parcial de la experiencia personal que produjo la visita a la exposici\u00f3n y que no quiere entrar dentro de un debate mayor \u2013ni te\u00f3rico ni art\u00edstico\u2013 de su trabajo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Advierto aqu\u00ed porque, tras la visita, he recibido y encontrado diversos comentarios que intentan insertar esta muestra dentro del cuerpo de obra de Al\u00ffs, apuntando cosas que me interesan tan poco como que \u201ceste\u201d Al\u00ffs ha perdido su \u201cfrescura\u201d y ahora es m\u00e1s \u201cun artista de taller\u201d, apuntando que la exposici\u00f3n aunque \u201cmuy buena\u201d es para \u201cgente que no sabe de arte\u201d. Como yo me inserto en ese grup(\u00fascul)o de gente considero que, en lo personal, poco me importa establecer qu\u00e9 pr\u00e1ctica es mejor \u2013si la de hace unos a\u00f1os o \u00e9sta m\u00e1s actual. Conf\u00edo en cada quien para sacar sus propias conclusiones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mi inter\u00e9s aqu\u00ed es m\u00e1s reducido: centrarme en la visi\u00f3n de un concepto que parec\u00eda asomarse de forma continua a lo largo de la muestra: el horizonte. En \u00e9l, las l\u00edneas, bien demarcadas, ilustran con m\u00e1xima precisi\u00f3n los l\u00edmites entre tierra, mar, estados y continentes; y dibujan con claridad las fronteras y las \u00e1reas de influencia mar\u00edtima.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un mapa como el que se presenta es un ejercicio cl\u00e1sico de claridad, de certidumbre y de precisi\u00f3n. Sobre el plano, el artista coloca, justo sobre el estrecho, dos tenedores que se entrecruzan y se mantienen elevados en un precario equilibrio creando un punto de contacto entre ambos territorios. O lo que es lo mismo, un puente entre ambos territorios. Cada una contiene un v\u00eddeo con estructuras similares. Uno tomado desde Europa mirando a \u00c1frica y otro tomado desde \u00c1frica mirando a Europa. Formalmente parecidos, a muchos nos costar\u00eda saber desde d\u00f3nde est\u00e1 tomado cada v\u00eddeo si no fuera por las personas que aparecen en \u00e9l. Sus vestimentas nos delatan diferencias y podemos entonces establecer qu\u00e9 territorio est\u00e1 al <em>norte<\/em> y cu\u00e1l al <em>sur<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Con un gesto simple, Al\u00ffs crea un espejo donde reflejarse \u2013al menos yo que soy espa\u00f1ol y mediterr\u00e1neo\u2013. Los v\u00eddeos permiten dar cuenta de la escasa distancia que separa ambos <em>mundos<\/em>. Y digo mundos porque el estrecho es, sin duda, uno de esos lugares donde las diferencias se extreman. All\u00ed se separan dos continentes, dos religiones, dos econom\u00edas y dos cosmovisiones. Para Europa\u00a0\u2013por qu\u00e9 no decirlo\u2013 el que vive al otro lado es alguien extra\u00f1o, que o quiere \u201cinvadir\u201d y eliminar aquello que es. Desde \u00c1frica, algunos ven cierto final del viaje, cierta esperanza que les permita dejar de vagar. El estrecho, con su vibrante mar, es la \u00faltima frontera y la \u00faltima esperanza de mezclarse o permanecer separados. El horizonte de la diferencia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lo que (no) se alcanza a ver<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Una an\u00e9cdota. Un buen amigo tiene todo un trabajo art\u00edstico desarrollado sobre el concepto mismo de horizonte. \u00c9l, gallego, habla constantemente sobre c\u00f3mo su territorio \u2013principalmente monta\u00f1oso\u2013 carece de horizonte salvo en el mar. El oc\u00e9ano es el \u00fanico punto desde donde poder trazar con la mirada una l\u00ednea recta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero Galicia (y Portugal), que para los romanos era el fin del mundo conocido \u2013Finisterrae\u2013 se enfrenta siempre a la incertidumbre sobre qu\u00e9 habr\u00e1 m\u00e1s all\u00e1. La mitolog\u00eda, consciente de la inmensidad del mar en aquellos territorios, imagin\u00f3 un lugar poblado de monstruosas criaturas que s\u00f3lo abocaban a una gigantesca cascada que nos har\u00eda caer en un absoluto vac\u00edo. Esas historias forjaron el car\u00e1cter de aquel lugar y dieron al lenguaje palabras tan maravillosas como saudade o morri\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por contra, los que nacimos en el Mediterr\u00e1neo tenemos una relaci\u00f3n con el agua m\u00e1s bien distinta. Primero nos encontramos con un mar tranquilo, suave y hasta templado que forj\u00f3 un intercambio continuo entre \u00c1frica, Europa y el Medio Oriente. El exceso de luz es una consecuencia natural, permite ver con extremo detalle y nitidez qui\u00e9n se atreve a cruzarla | Fuente: blogdebanderas.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sin embargo, aquel territorio abierto y mezclado termin\u00f3 por extremar sus diferencias: arriba-abajo, norte-sur, nosotros-ellos, colonizadores-colonizados, que llev\u00f3, ya en la contemporaneidad a crear vallas como las de Ceuta y Melilla o los distintos sistemas de seguridad, con c\u00e1maras infrarrojas y dem\u00e1s sistemas de monitoreo que los acompa\u00f1an. En ellos el punto de vista elegido es, sin embargo, diferente. Al\u00ffs utiliza en casi todos la vista a\u00e9rea, donde el agua ocupa casi la totalidad del cuadro, relegando las figuras humanas a ocupar tan s\u00f3lo una peque\u00f1a parte del espacio pict\u00f3rico, reforzando la innecesidad del mar frente a la vista del horizonte destino. Las im\u00e1genes recuerdan a las fotos a\u00e9reas que aparecen com\u00fanmente en la prensa. Con la ausencia de tierra, el mar se hace m\u00e1s inconmensurable y nos recuerda, de nuevo, el peligro que supone cruzarlo y el esfuerzo que supone la distancia ba\u00f1ada de azul que (nos) separa. En el mundo sobreinformado hemos perdido el horizonte, desaparecido tras la bruma de un exceso que cubre nuestros ojos. Perdido el horizonte perdemos orientaci\u00f3n y puntos de referencia y estamos obligados a vagar frente a la incertidumbre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al\u00ffs nos sumerge entonces en este debate. En un v\u00eddeo a dos pantallas \u2013de nuevo la condici\u00f3n del espejo\u2013 el artista coloca una fila de ni\u00f1os que portan en sus manos unas sandalias convertidas en barcos de juguete. Entre risas y empujones la fila avanza hacia el mar que pasa de la tranquila orilla a algo m\u00e1s agitado avanzado unos metros. En ese momento, la c\u00e1mara, que trazaba una l\u00ednea n\u00edtida entre cielo y mar, empieza a ser afectada por el oleaje, se ahoga, pierde contacto con las risas de los ni\u00f1os, y el sonido se vuelve inquietante. De vez en cuando vemos una figura que podr\u00eda ser un ni\u00f1o. En una sala oscura, frente a una enorme pantalla, somos testigos -desde la propia mirada del artista- del nacimiento y formaci\u00f3n de un tornado. Primero levantando algo de polvo y luego convertido en una mancha marr\u00f3n -en M\u00e9xico dir\u00edan caf\u00e9- que avanza y absorbe sin diligencia todo lo que se encuentra. Lo extra\u00f1o aqu\u00ed y que Al\u00ffs ha tenido el acierto de destacar es como cuando la nube de polvo engulle lo que se cruza en su camino, como un arbol, por ejemplo, acaba por diluir su figura hasta convertirlo en una mancha sin forma. Como en los cuadros de tem\u00e1tica marina\u00a0de\u00a0William Turner,\u00a0donde las figuras se pierden\u00a0y mezclan en las olas de un mar revuelto y furioso, aqu\u00ed, los \u00e1rboles, al mezclarse con la arena suspendida en el aire, pierden su contorno y acaban convertidos en una imagen borrosa de color marr\u00f3n oscuro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">De nuevo Al\u00ffs expone a la mirada a un juego de disoluci\u00f3n. Somos incapaces de determinar una l\u00ednea que clarifique las figuras. Es entonces cuando Al\u00ffs decide maltratar su cuerpo lanz\u00e1ndose e inmol\u00e1ndose contra esa fuerza de la naturaleza. Desde fuera podemos ver al artista como una figura que pasa a ser un manch\u00f3n, un emborronamiento de lo que alguna vez pudo ser una persona. Desde dentro \u2013recordemos que los v\u00eddeos est\u00e1n tomados desde el punto de vista del propio Al\u00ffs\u2013 nos encerramos en un mundo ruidoso, que golpea la c\u00e1mara-ojo y notamos, en los quejidos del artista, que hace da\u00f1o.\u00a0Pero, \u00bfpara qu\u00e9? \u00bfCu\u00e1l es la utilidad de lanzarse contra eso? \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 alguien se quisiera exponer a ello?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El gesto es puramente po\u00e9tico y toca reivindicarlo como tal. En s\u00ed mismo, encierra las mismas cuestiones que la de aquellos que se lanzan al mar buscando llegar al otro lado \u2013como hace los ni\u00f1os en el v\u00eddeo del estrecho\u2013 para encontrar un mundo <em>mejor<\/em>: \u00bfMerece la pena mezclase con un medio que te va a hacer da\u00f1o s\u00f3lo por eso? S\u00f3lo hay una respuesta: s\u00ed. Si no, nadie lo har\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cierto es que hay una diferencia entre las aguas que separan \u00c1frica y Europa de los campos de Milpa Alta. Cierto es, tambi\u00e9n, que unos aparecen obligados por un mundo (el del capital) que los trata \u2013pese a la dureza de la palabra\u2013 como un recurso prescindible. Si no son ellos, otros llegaran, otros ocuparan su lugar. Por eso en Europa lloramos la tragedia del Costa Concordia o del Titanic, demandamos un mejor control de los viajes y queremos justicia ciega para encerrar a los responsables, y por eso, al escuchar la muerte de 1,000 migrantes, s\u00f3lo esbozamos un \u201cqu\u00e9 pena de mundo\u201d y seguimos tomando nuestro caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No se trata de olvidar esa diferencia, ni de situar la acci\u00f3n de Al\u00ffs \u2013enmarcada en el contexto art\u00edstico del museo\u2013 de la dif\u00edcil\u00a0y extra\u00f1a realidad que marca el mundo de los flujos de capital (humano). Pero quiz\u00e1s, al compartir el mismo espacio de exposici\u00f3n, se cree un di\u00e1logo que nos pongan en una situaci\u00f3n inc\u00f3moda aunque s\u00f3lo sea por un momento.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Habr\u00e1 quien piense \u201c\u00bfY qu\u00e9 cambia?\u201d Los espectadores \u2013consumistas por excelencia\u2013 seguir\u00e1n con sus vidas, olvidar\u00e1n lo que han visto y volver\u00e1n a sus problemas. Nadie esbozar\u00e1 un <em>mea culpa<\/em> o se har\u00e1 activista por ver la exposici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Es bastante probable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El arte fue neutralizado hace ya mucho tiempo por el mercado. Es posible que no sirva de nada hacerlo. Pero hay que hacerlo. Pero pienso aqu\u00ed en Harun Farocki y su <em>fuego inextingible<\/em>. Si la quemadura de cigarro autoinflingida que se realizaba el creador alem\u00e1n nos causaba dolor \u2013bienvenida empat\u00eda\u2013 \u00bfqu\u00e9 nos\u00a0causar\u00e1\u00a0la imagen de los quemados por la guerra de Vietnam? Una imagen tan violenta ser\u00e1 demasiado para el espectador que abrumado,\u00a0apuntaba Farocki, apartar\u00e1 la mirada ante los efectos del Napalm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El gesto de Farocki le podr\u00e1, sin embargo, hacer consciente de esos problemas a trav\u00e9s de una comparativa. Un gesto po\u00e9tico, si queremos llamarlo as\u00ed, que nos saque de nuestro propio ensimismamiento.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Siempre habr\u00e1 peligros, pero hay que seguir lanz\u00e1ndose contra el tornado \u2013met\u00e1fora de este mundo capital\u2013 que lo devora todo y exponernos a toda su crueldad e incertidumbre visual.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pedro Hern\u00e1ndez \u00b7 arquitecto<br \/>\nCiudad de M\u00e9xico. septiembre 2015<\/p>\n<p>[:gl]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O presente texto \u00e9, primeiro de nada, unha simple e pequena reflexi\u00f3n sobre a exposici\u00f3n <em>\u2018Relatos dunha negociaci\u00f3n<\/em><em>\u2019<\/em> que recolle a obra pict\u00f3rica do artista <a href=\"http:\/\/francisalys.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Francis Al\u00ffs<\/a> e desenvolveuse -ata o domingo 16 de agosto- no Museo Tamaio de Cidade de M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vaian por diante algunhas advertencias. A\u00ednda que admiro enormemente a obra do artista (belga)mexicano, o meu co\u00f1ecemento sobre o seu traballo res\u00famese aos cl\u00e1sicos clich\u00e9s: \u201cestudou arquitectura\u201d, \u201c?chegou a M\u00e9xico no 86 tras o terremoto\u201d, \u201ctraballaba percorrendo o centro da cidade\u201d, \u201cfai cami\u00f1adas no espazo p\u00fablico?, etc, etc. Unha visi\u00f3n -explicada aqu\u00ed de forma conscientemente reducida- que quere deixar a entrever que isto non \u00e9 sen\u00f3n unha lectura acoutada e parcial da experiencia persoal que produciu a visita \u00e1 exposici\u00f3n e que non quere entrar dentro dun debate maior -nin te\u00f3rico nin art\u00edstico- do seu traballo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Advirto aqu\u00ed porque, tras a visita, recib\u00edn e atopei diversos comentarios que tentan inserir esta mostra dentro do corpo de obra de Al\u00ffs, apuntando cousas que me interesan tan pouco como que \u201cleste? Al\u00ffs perdeu o seu \u201cfrescura\u201d e agora \u00e9 m\u00e1is \u201cun artista de taller\u201d, apuntando que a exposici\u00f3n a\u00ednda que \u201cmoi boa\u201d \u00e9 para \u201cxente que non sabe de arte\u201d. Como eu ins\u00edrome nese grup(\u00fascul)ou de xente considero que, no persoal, pouco imp\u00f3rtame establecer que pr\u00e1ctica \u00e9 mellor -se a de hai uns anos ou esta m\u00e1is actual. Conf\u00edo en cada quen para sacar as s\u00faas propias conclusi\u00f3ns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O meu interese aqu\u00ed \u00e9 m\u00e1is reducido: centrarme na visi\u00f3n dun concepto que parec\u00eda asomarse de forma continua ao longo da mostra: o horizonte. Nel, as li\u00f1as, ben demarcadas, ilustran con m\u00e1xima precisi\u00f3n os l\u00edmites entre terra, mar, estados e continentes; e debuxan con claridade as fronteiras e as \u00e1reas de influencia mar\u00edtima.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un mapa como o que se presenta \u00e9 un exercicio cl\u00e1sico de claridade, de certidumbre e de precisi\u00f3n. Sobre o plano, o artista coloca, xusto sobre o estreito, dous tenedores que se entrecruzan e mant\u00e9\u00f1ense elevados nun precario equilibrio creando un punto de contacto entre ambos os territorios. Ou o que \u00e9 o mesmo, unha ponte entre ambos os territorios. Cada unha cont\u00e9n un v\u00eddeo con estruturas similares. Un tomado desde Europa mirando a \u00c1frica e outro tomado desde \u00c1frica mirando a Europa. Formalmente parecidos, a moitos nos custar\u00eda saber desde onde est\u00e1 tomado cada v\u00eddeo se non f\u00f3ra polas persoas que aparecen nel. As s\u00faas vestimentas del\u00e1tannos diferenzas e podemos ent\u00f3n establecer que territorio est\u00e1 ao <em>norte<\/em> e cal ao <em>sur<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cun xesto simple, Al\u00ffs crea un espello onde reflectirse -polo menos eu que son espa\u00f1ol e mediterr\u00e1neo-. Os v\u00eddeos permiten dar conta da escasa distancia que separa ambos os <em>mundos<\/em>. E digo mundos porque o estreito \u00e9, sen d\u00fabida, un deses lugares onde as diferenzas extr\u00e9manse. Al\u00ed sep\u00e1ranse dous continentes, d\u00faas relixi\u00f3ns, d\u00faas econom\u00edas e d\u00faas cosmovisi\u00f3ns. Para Europa -por que non dicilo- o que vive al\u00e9n \u00e9 algu\u00e9n estra\u00f1o, que ou quere \u201cinvadir\u201d e eliminar aquilo que \u00e9. Desde \u00c1frica, alg\u00fans ven certo final da viaxe, certa esperanza que lles permita deixar de vagar. O estreito, co seu vibrante mar, \u00e9 a \u00faltima fronteira e a \u00faltima esperanza de mesturarse ou permanecer separados. O horizonte da diferenza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>O que (non) se alcanza a ver<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unha an\u00e9cdota. Un bo amigo ten todo un traballo art\u00edstico desenvolvido sobre o concepto mesmo de horizonte. El, galego, fala constantemente sobre como o seu territorio -principalmente monta\u00f1oso- carece de horizonte salvo no mar. O oc\u00e9ano \u00e9 o \u00fanico punto desde onde poder trazar coa mirada unha li\u00f1a recta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero Galicia (e Portugal), que para os romanos era o fin do mundo co\u00f1ecido -Finisterrae- enfr\u00f3ntase sempre \u00e1 incerteza sobre que haber\u00e1 m\u00e1is al\u00f3. A mitolox\u00eda, consciente da inmensidade do mar naqueles territorios, imaxinou un lugar poboado de monstruosas criaturas que s\u00f3 abocaban a unha xigantesca fervenza que nos far\u00eda caer nun absoluto baleiro. Esas historias forxaron o car\u00e1cter daquel lugar e deron ao linguaxe palabras tan marabillosas como saudade ou morri\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por contra, os que nacemos no Mediterr\u00e1neo temos unha relaci\u00f3n coa auga m\u00e1is ben distinta. Primeiro atop\u00e1monos cun mar tranquilo, suave e ata t\u00e9pedo que forxou un intercambio continuo entre \u00c1frica, Europa e o Medio Oriente. Neles o punto de vista elixido \u00e9, con todo, diferente. A o\u00ffs utiliza en case todos a vista a\u00e9rea, onde a auga ocupa case a totalidade do cadro, relegando as figuras humanas a ocupar tan s\u00f3 unha pequena parte do espazo pict\u00f3rico, reforzando a innecesidad do mar fronte \u00e1 vista do horizonte destino. As imaxes lembran \u00e1s fotos a\u00e9reas que aparecen comunmente na prensa. Coa ausencia de terra, o mar faise m\u00e1is inconmensurable e l\u00e9mbranos, de novo, o perigo que sup\u00f3n cruzalo e o esforzo que sup\u00f3n a distancia ba\u00f1ada de azul que (nos) separa. Ao tempo, alg\u00fans cadros cr\u00fazanse con enormes figuras mitol\u00f3gicas que cargan nos seus brazos ou sobre as s\u00faas cabezas as balsas cargadas de migrantes. Nun v\u00eddeo a d\u00faas pantallas -de novo a condici\u00f3n do espello- o artista coloca unha fila de nenos que portan nas s\u00faas mans unhas sandalias convertidas en barcos de xoguete. Entre risas e empux\u00f3ns a fila avanza cara ao mar que pasa da tranquila beira a algo m\u00e1is axitado avanzado uns metros. Nese momento, a c\u00e1mara, que trazaba unha li\u00f1a n\u00edtida entre ceo e mar, empeza a ser afectada pola ondada, af\u00f3gase, perde contacto coas risas dos nenos, e o son v\u00f3lvese inquietante. De cando en vez vemos unha figura que poder\u00eda ser un neno. Primeiro levantando algo de po e logo convertido nunha mancha marr\u00f3n -en M\u00e9xico dir\u00edan caf\u00e9- que avanza e absorbe sen dilixencia todo o que se atopa. O estra\u00f1o aqu\u00ed e que Al\u00ffs tivo o acerto de destacar \u00e9 como cando a nube de po engole o que se cruza no seu cami\u00f1o, como un arbol, por exemplo, acaba por dilu\u00edr a s\u00faa figura ata convertelo nunha mancha sen forma. Como nos cadros de tem\u00e1tica mari\u00f1a de William Turner, onde as figuras p\u00e9rdense e mesturan nas ondas dun mar revolto e furioso, aqu\u00ed, as \u00e1rbores, ao mesturarse coa area suspendida no aire, perden o seu contorno e acaban convertidos nunha imaxe borrosa de cor marr\u00f3n escura.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">De novo Al\u00ffs exp\u00f3n \u00e1 mirada a un xogo de disoluci\u00f3n. Somos incapaces de determinar unha li\u00f1a que clarifique as figuras. Desde f\u00f3ra podemos ver ao artista como unha figura que pasa a ser un manch\u00f3n, un emborronamiento do que algunha vez puido ser unha persoa. Desde dentro -lembremos que os v\u00eddeos est\u00e1n tomados desde o punto de vista do propio Al\u00ffs- encerr\u00e1monos nun mundo ruidoso, que golpea a c\u00e1mara-ollo e notamos, nos quejidos do artista, que fai dano. Pero, para que? Cal \u00e9 a utilidade de lanzarse contra iso? Por que algu\u00e9n se quixese expo\u00f1er a iso?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O xesto \u00e9 puramente po\u00e9tico e toca reivindicalo como tal. En si mesmo, encerra as mesmas cuesti\u00f3ns que a daqueles que se lanzan ao mar buscando chegar al\u00e9n -como fai os nenos no v\u00eddeo do estreito- para atopar un mundo <em>mellor<\/em>: Merece a pena mesturase cun medio que che vai a facer dano s\u00f3 por iso? S\u00f3 hai unha resposta: si. Se non son eles, outros chegasen, outros ocupasen o seu lugar. Por iso en Europa choramos a traxedia do Costa Concordia ou do Titanic, demandamos un mellor control das viaxes e queremos xustiza cega para encerrar aos responsables, e por iso, ao escoitar a morte de 1,000 migrantes, s\u00f3 esbozamos un \u201cque pena de mundo\u201d e seguimos tomando o noso caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Non se trata de esquecer esa diferenza, nin de situar a acci\u00f3n da Al\u00ffs -enmarcada no contexto art\u00edstico do museo- da dif\u00edcil e estra\u00f1a realidade que marca o mundo dos fluxos de capital (humano). Pero quizais, ao compartir o mesmo espazo de exposici\u00f3n, crese un di\u00e1logo que nos po\u00f1an nunha situaci\u00f3n inc\u00f3moda a\u00ednda que s\u00f3 sexa por un momento.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Haber\u00e1 quen pense \u201cE que cambia?\u201d Os espectadores -consumistas por excelencia- seguir\u00e1n coas s\u00faas vidas, esquecer\u00e1n o que viron e volver\u00e1n aos seus problemas. Ningu\u00e9n esbozar\u00e1 un <em>mea culpa<\/em> ou se far\u00e1 activista por ver a exposici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c9 bastante probable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A arte foi neutralizado fai xa moito tempo polo mercado. \u00c9 posible que non sirva de nada facelo. In him, the lines, well limited, illustrate with maximum precision the limits between land, sea, conditions and continents; and they draw with clarity the borders and the areas of maritime influence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A map like that appears is a classic exercise of clarity, of certainty and of precision. On the plane, the artist places, I joust on the strait, two holders who interbreed and are kept raised in a precarious balance creating a point of contact between both territories. Or what is the same thing, a bridge between both territories. Each one contains a video with similar structures. One taken from Europe looking to Africa and other one taken from Africa looking to Europe. Formally similar, it would be difficult to many to know from where every video is taken if it was not for the persons who appear in him. His gowns betray theirs differences and we can then establish what territory is in the northern part and which in the <em>southern part.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With a simple gesture, Al\u00ffs believes a mirror where I reflect -at least less that I am Spanish and Mediterranean-. The videoes allow to realize of the scanty distance that separates both w<em>orlds<\/em>. And I say worlds because the strait is, undoubtedly, one of these places where the differences make every effort. There there separate two continents, two religions, two economies and two cosmovisiones. For Europe &#8211; why not decirlo &#8211; the one that lives to another side is strange someone, that or it wants to \u201cinvade\u201d and to eliminate that one that is. From Africa, some they see certain end of the trip, certain hope that it allows them to stop strolling around. The strait, with his vibrant sea, is the last border and the last hope to mix or be remained separated. The horizon of the difference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is (not) managed to see<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An anecdote. A good friend has the whole artistic work developed on the concept itself of horizon. He, Galician, speaks constant on how his territory &#8211; principally mountainous &#8211; lacks horizon except in the sea. The ocean is the only point from where being able to plan with the look a straight line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero Galicia (and Portugal), that for the Romans was the end of the known world &#8211; Finisterrae &#8211; faces always the uncertainty on what it will have beyond. The mythology, conscious of the immensity of the sea in those territories, imagined a place filled with monstrous creatures that only were leading to a gigantic waterfall that would make us fall down in an absolute emptiness. These histories forged the character of that place and gave to the language words as wonderful as saudade or murrain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For against, that we were born in the Mediterranean we have a relation with the rather different water. First we think a calm, soft sea and up to moderately that it forged a constant exchange between Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Al\u00ffs uses in almost all the air sight, where the water occupies almost the totality of the picture, relegating the human figures to occupying only a small part of the pictorial space, reinforcing the unneed of the sea opposite to the sight of the target horizon. The images remember the air photos that they appear commonly in the press. With the absence of land, the sea becomes more immeasurable and we are remembered, again, by the danger that it it supposes crossing and the effort that supposes the distance bathed of blue that separates (us). M\u00e1s bien, me interesa entender c\u00f3mo las representaciones de la arquitectura, el paisaje, el dise\u00f1o o el territorio construyen y materializan determinados discursos ideol\u00f3gicos, imponiendo posturas, subjetividades y formas de acci\u00f3n sobre los cuerpos que la habitan. En mi trabajo edito estos discursos \u2013sus im\u00e1genes, sus historias o sus restos materiales\u2013 y reelaboro comentarios cr\u00edticos que ponen en evidencia sus controversias y contradicciones, formaliz\u00e1ndolos en diversos formatos como textos, fotograf\u00edas, v\u00eddeos, objetos o instalaciones, muchas veces entrecruzados entre s\u00ed. He publicado art\u00edculos y ensayos en diversos medios de Estados Unidos, Italia, Croacia, Espa\u00f1a, Chile y M\u00e9xico.
