Fue hijo del poeta Pieter Nicolaas van Eyck. Aldo van Eyck vivi\u00f3 en Londres desde 1919 hasta 1935, \u00e9poca en que su padre fue enviado all\u00ed como corresponsal period\u00edstico. Iniciar\u00eda su formaci\u00f3n en la Real Academia de Artes Visuales de La Haya, y m\u00e1s tarde en la Escuela Polit\u00e9cnica Federal de Z\u00farich. Se gradu\u00f3 en 1942, pero permaneci\u00f3 en Suiza hasta el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, aproxim\u00e1ndose a c\u00edrculos art\u00edsticos de vanguardia en el entorno de Carola Giedion-Welcker, esposa del historiador Sigfried Giedion. En estos a\u00f1os se cas\u00f3 con su compa\u00f1era de estudios Hannie van Roojen, con quien tuvo dos hijos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En 1946 se traslad\u00f3 a \u00c1msterdam, donde trabaj\u00f3 en el Departamento Municipal de Obras P\u00fablicas hasta 1951, a\u00f1o en que se independiz\u00f3. Fue profesor en la Academia de Arquitectura de \u00c1msterdam de 1954 a 1958, y m\u00e1s tarde, profesor en la Universidad T\u00e9cnica de Delft desde 1966 hasta 1984. Tambi\u00e9n fue editor de la revista de arquitectura Forum, en los a\u00f1os 1959-1963 y 1967.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fue miembro de los CIAM, y cofundador en 1954 del Team 10. Aldo van Eyck recorri\u00f3 Europa y Norteam\u00e9rica propugnando la necesidad de abandonar el funcionalismo, y atacando la falta de originalidad en la mayor\u00eda de la arquitectura moderna de post-guerra. La posici\u00f3n de co-editor de la revista Forum ayud\u00f3 a van Eyck a publicitar las opiniones del \u00abTeam 10\u00bb en favor de un retorno al humanismo en el dise\u00f1o arquitect\u00f3nico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aldo van Eyck recibi\u00f3 la Medalla de Oro del RIBA en 1990.<\/p>\n<p><!--:--><!--:en--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lecture by Aldo van Eyck. He was a son of the poet Pieter Nicolaas van Eyck. Aldo van Eyck lived in London from 1919 until 1935, epoch in that his father was sent there as journalistic correspondent. It would initiate his formation in the Royal Academy of Visual Arts of The Hague, and later in Z\u00farich&#8217;s Technical Federal School. It graduated in 1942, but it remained in Switzerland until the end of the Second World war, coming closer artistic circles of forefront in the environment of Carola Giedion-Welcker, wife of the historian Sigfried Giedion. In these years he married his companion of studies Hannie van Roojen, the one who had two children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1946 it moved to \u00c1msterdam, where it was employed at the Municipal Department of Public Works until 1951, year at that became free. He was a teacher in the Academy of \u00c1msterdam&#8217;s Architecture from 1954 to 1958, and later, teacher in Delft&#8217;s Technical University from 1966 until 1984. Also he was a publisher of the magazine of architecture Forum, in the years 1959-1963 and 1967.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was a member of the CIAM, and co-founder in 1954 of the Team 10. Aldo van Eyck crossed Europe and North America supporting the need to leave the funcionalismo, and attacking the lack of originality in the majority of the modern architecture of postwar.
