El s\u00edndrome de \u201cobediencia debida\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

En estos tiempos convulsos de leyes demoledoras y esclavos disfrazados de falso aut\u00f3nomo, permitan a este min\u00fasculo blog relajar el ambiente intentando contestar a una de las grandes preguntas de la humanidad: \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 es mala la mala arquitectura?<\/p>\n

Dice un famoso corolario, atribuido creo yo a todos los profesores de la escuela de arquitectura, que \u201csobre gustos hay mucho escrito, el problema es que a la gente no le gusta leer\u201d. En esta serie, dedicada a los m\u00e1s variados espantos arquitect\u00f3nicos intentaremos huir de argumentos manidos y fobias preconcebidas. Simplemente vamos a \u00a0intentar explicar, desde nuestro humilde punto de vista, cuales son algunos de los males de esta profesi\u00f3n nuestra.<\/p>\n

Y hablando de corolarios, es importante evitar ver la paja en el ojo ajeno, sin que a uno le moleste la viga en el propio. As\u00ed que empecemos por la autocr\u00edtica. El artefacto de la foto que sigue es obra (al menos en parte, de un servidor). Y s\u00ed, es malo. Malo con ganas. Pero, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 es malo?<\/p>\n

La explicaci\u00f3n (que no excusa) viene por lo que podemos llamar s\u00edndrome de \u201cobediencia debida\u201d. Se mezclan un arquitecto joven y con ideas poco claras, con uno de aquellos jefes de estudio de colmillo retorcido y, sobre todo, con un cliente de planteamientos algo \u201ccaprichosos\u201d. El resultado: una mezcla de esquemas funcionales basados en el fascinante mundo oriental del feng-shui (tan apropiado para un edificio en la mancha), con modificaciones \u201cal vuelo\u201d del programa, los acabados, los usos previstos y el presupuesto de la obra y, para rematar el pastel, la intervenci\u00f3n a \u00faltima hora de un prestigios\u00edsimo estudio de interiorismo que termin\u00f3 por decidir que el esp\u00edritu de la obra necesitaba una decoraci\u00f3n de estilo tailand\u00e9s. Estoy convencido de que, el hecho de que el otro negocio del \u00ednclito decorador fuera una empresa de importaci\u00f3n de muebles orientales no tuvo nada que ver.<\/p>\n

En tan propicio caldo de cultivo, la labor de aquel joven y desubicado arquitecto era, b\u00e1sicamente, decir que s\u00ed. Las visitas de obra consist\u00edan en pasear por aquel secarral manchego con la propiedad y el jefe del estudio anotando las \u00faltimas ocurrencias de ambos, para ponerlas en pr\u00e1ctica a la mayor brevedad, sin importar la viabilidad t\u00e9cnica, ni por descontado, el correspondiente desfase presupuestario. Obvia decir que el mencionado desfase presupuestario se volvi\u00f3 algo m\u00e1s importante cuando desapareci\u00f3 la financiaci\u00f3n antes de terminar la obra, pero ese es otro tema.<\/p>\n

Aquel joven y desubicado arquitecto nunca se decidi\u00f3 a decir en voz alta que aquello le parec\u00eda una barbaridad. Y trag\u00f3. Y firm\u00f3. Y nunca lleg\u00f3 a defender que su criterio, acertado o no, deb\u00eda tener importancia en el proceso de construcci\u00f3n de aquel, o cualquier otro, edificio. Y durante un tiempo se indign\u00f3 cuando escuchaba a alguien criticar al arquitecto responsable de alg\u00fan otro espanto porque seguro que el pobre no tuvo la culpa, que fueron las presiones, que \u00e9l quer\u00eda hacer algo estupendo pero apareci\u00f3 alg\u00fan decorador desalmado que lo estrope\u00f3 todo\u2026<\/p>\n

Pero el joven y desubicado arquitecto ten\u00eda (y tiene) una responsabilidad, aunque no le hayan preparado para ella. Una responsabilidad hacia su cliente al que, por muy caprichoso que este sea, a veces hay que decir no. Una responsabilidad hacia la sociedad (en este caso la de aquel adorable pueblito manchego) que tendr\u00e1 que sufrir o disfrutar sus edificios. Y una responsabilidad hacia su profesi\u00f3n. Que ya sabemos que en este pa\u00eds todos somos cr\u00edticos de arte y seleccionadores de f\u00fatbol y todos los arquitectos posamos para las fotos con foulard y tenemos palco en el open de tenis.<\/p>\n

Pero o novo e desituado arquitecto ti\u00f1a (e ten) unha responsabilidade, a\u00ednda que non o preparasen para ela. unha responsabilidade cara ao seu cliente ao que, por moi caprichoso que este sexa, \u00e1s veces hai que dicir non. Unha responsabilidade cara \u00e1 sociedade (neste caso a daquel adorable pueblito manchego) que ter\u00e1 que sufrir ou gozar os seus edificios. E unha responsabilidade cara \u00e1 s\u00faa profesi\u00f3n. In these times convulsed with devastating laws and slaves disguised of false autonomous, allow to this minuscule blog to relax the environment trying to answer one of the big questions of the humanity: why is bad architecture bad?<\/p>\n

The explanation (that it does not excuse) comes by what we can call syndrome of \u201cdue obedience\u201d. They are mixed a young architect and with slightly clear ideas, with one of those chiefs of study of involved fang and, especially, with a client of slightly \u201ccapricious expositions\u201d. The result: a mixture of functional schemes based on the fascinating oriental world of the feng-shui (so adapted for a building in the spot), with modifications \u201cto the flight\u201d of the program, the finished ones, the foreseen uses and the budget of the work and, to finish off the cake, the intervention at the last moment of a prestigios\u00edsimo I study of interiorismo that ended for deciding that the spirit of the work needed a decoration of Thai style. And during a time he got angry when he was listening to someone criticizing the architect responsible for some another fright because insurance that the poor person did not have the fault, which they were the pressures, that he wanted to make something marvellous but there appeared some cruel interior decorator who spoilt everything\u2026<\/p>\n

But the young person and desubicado architect had (and it has) a responsibility, though they have not prepared him for her. A responsibility towards his client to that, for very capricious that this one is, sometimes it is necessary to say not. A responsibility towards the company (in this case that of that adorable of La Mancha hamlet) that will have to suffer or enjoy his buildings. And a responsibility towards his profession. That already we know that in this country we all are critics of art and seleccionadores of football and all the architects we pose for the photos with headscarf and have theater box in the open of tennis.<\/p>\n
