La obra del artista portugu\u00e9s Juli\u00e3o Sarmento (Lisboa, 1948), uno de los creadores m\u00e1s importantes y representativos dentro del contexto del arte contempor\u00e1neo internacional, llega a Galicia de la mano de la Fundaci\u00f3n Luis Seoane de A Coru\u00f1a a trav\u00e9s de la muestra Juliao Sarmento. Guest or Host?<\/em>, un proyecto coproducido por la instituci\u00f3n coru\u00f1esa y el CAAM, Centro Atl\u00e1ntico de Arte Moderno de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.<\/p>\n

Juliao Sarmento. Guest or Host?<\/em> comisariada por el cr\u00edtico de arte y director de la Fundaci\u00f3n Luis Seoane, David Barro, constituye la primera gran muestra individual de la obra de Sarmento en Galicia, reuniendo cerca de una treintena de piezas en diferentes formatos como pintura, escultura, dibujo, fotograf\u00eda, v\u00eddeo e instalaciones que van desde los inicios de la d\u00e9cada de los ochenta hasta el momento presente, en un esfuerzo por mostrar al espectador el car\u00e1cter poli\u00e9drico del trabajo del artista.<\/p>\n

El t\u00edtulo de la muestra, Guest or Host?<\/em> (\u00bfInvitado o anfitri\u00f3n?) alude a la incapacidad de discernir el lugar en el que nos situamos ante las obras de Juli\u00e3o Sarmento, especialmente con respecto a sus performances, donde el propio artista ejerce de anfitri\u00f3n al situar la escena, pero tambi\u00e9n de invitado, ya que permanece fuera de ella.<\/p>\n

El recorrido expositivo se ha concebido como un paseo por algunas constantes de su trabajo como el erotismo, la memoria o el deseo, filtrados a trav\u00e9s de diferentes referencias culturales, sobre todo literarias y cinematogr\u00e1ficas, desde Marguerite Duras a James Joyce, de Raymond Carver a Pina Bausch o Atom Egoyan, por citar s\u00f3lo algunas, representadas alternativamente de manera sutil o manifiesta.<\/p>\n

The work of the Portuguese artist Juli\u00e3o Sarmento (Lisbon, 1948), one of the most important and representative creators inside the context of the contemporary international art, comes to Galicia of the hand of the Foundation Luis Seoane of To Corunna across the sample Juliao Sarmento. Guest or Host?<\/em>,, a project coproducido for the institution coru\u00f1esa and the CAAM, Center The Atlantic Ocean of Modern Art of Las Palmas of Great Canary.<\/p>\n

Juliao Sarmento. Guest or Host?<\/em> Comisariada for the critic of art and the director of the Foundation Luis Seoane, David Barro, constitutes the first great individual sample of Sarmento’s work in Galicia, assembling near a treintena of pieces in different formats as painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video and facilities that go from the beginnings of the decade of the eighties up to the present moment, in an effort for showing to the spectator the polyhedric character of the work of the artist.<\/p>\n

The title of the sample, Guest or Host?\u00a0<\/em> it alludes to the disability to discern the place in which we place before Juli\u00e3o Sarmento’s works, specially with regard to his performances, where the own artist is a host on having placed the scene, but also of guest, since it remains out of her.<\/p>\n

The explanatory tour has been conceived as a walk along some constants of his work as the eroticism, the memory or the desire leaked across different cultural references, especially literary and cinematographic, from Marguerite Duras to James Joyce, of Raymond Carver to Pina Bausch or Atom Egoyan, for mentioning only some, represented alternative in a subtle or manifest way.<\/p>\n
