Si hay una arquitecta que deber\u00eda ser conocida en Espa\u00f1a es, ella, Matilde Ucelay Maort\u00faa, nacida en 1912 y fallecida en Madrid en noviembre del 2008. Y no solamente por haber sido la primera mujer que termin\u00f3 la carrera de arquitectura en este pa\u00eds, sino por haber recibido en el 2004 el Premio Nacional de Arquitectura, otorgado anualmente por el Ministerio de Vivienda a<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>a<em>quellos arquitectos cuya aportaci\u00f3n sobresaliente y continuada, realizada fundamentalmente en Espa\u00f1a, y valorada con criterios objetivos, haya puesto de relieve los aspectos sociales, econ\u00f3micos, est\u00e9ticos y tecnol\u00f3gicos de la arquitectura\u00bb<\/em><\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los reconocimientos le vinieron algo tarde a esta singular e inteligente mujer, aunque ella no cre\u00eda en m\u00e1s medallas que el bienestar de las personas que habitan en los edificios por ella dise\u00f1ados.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Matilde Ucelay termin\u00f3 su carrera en 1936. Lo hizo de una manera natural, por vocaci\u00f3n. Como natural fue su infancia dentro del ambiente culto, liberal y progresista de su familia, y natural su asistencia al Instituto Escuela (continuador del Instituto Libre de Ense\u00f1anza) donde estudi\u00f3 brillantemente el bachillerato. Algunas de sus amigas se decantaron por las carreras de Filosof\u00eda y Letras o Farmacia, pero ella ten\u00eda claro que lo suyo era la Arquitectura. \u00c9poca dif\u00edcil, cuando menos, la que pas\u00f3 estudiando en esos m\u00edticos a\u00f1os treinta en la Escuela de Arquitectura de Madrid, a pesar de algunos inconvenientes menores como el que la Escuela careciera de aseos para mujeres. Amiga de F\u00e9lix Candela y de Chueca Goitia y, a pesar de lo inusual de su situaci\u00f3n, siempre goz\u00f3 del mayor respeto tanto de sus profesores como de sus compa\u00f1eros. Su asignatura preferida: proyectos arquitect\u00f3nicos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dos d\u00edas antes de que estallara la guerra civil, fue homenajeada en el Colegio de Arquitectos de Madrid, acto al que acudieron destacadas figuras de la Segunda Rep\u00fablica como el Ministro de la Gobernaci\u00f3n, Am\u00f3s Salvador. Este hecho, junto con su filiaci\u00f3n republicana, hizo que una vez terminada la contienda, fuera depurada y condenada en consejo de guerra a la inhabilitaci\u00f3n para ejercer cargos p\u00fablicos de por vida y para ejercer su profesi\u00f3n, durante cinco largos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_38083\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38083\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/22-M.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38083\" title=\"22-M\" src=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/22-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/22-M.jpg 620w, https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/22-M-293x300.jpg 293w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38083\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Mesa de trabajo de Matilde ucelay<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A pesar de todas las prohibiciones y dificultades, <strong>Matilde Ucelay<\/strong> mantuvo una actividad profesional continuada durante m\u00e1s de cuarenta a\u00f1os, construyendo edificios para clientes privados, proyectos que h\u00e1bilmente consigui\u00f3 que firmaran, al principio de su trayectoria, otros compa\u00f1eros. Ejerci\u00f3 su labor en circunstancias realmente dif\u00edciles, inmersa en el contexto social de la \u00e9poca, en el que las mujeres se ve\u00edan confinadas al \u00e1mbito privado y forzadas a cumplir roles exclusivamente dom\u00e9sticos y familiares, careciendo de derechos legales. Sencilla y responsable, trabaj\u00f3 toda su vida sin considerarlo algo excepcional.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Su arquitectura se caracteriza por una profusi\u00f3n y riqueza en los detalles, y por un dise\u00f1o intimista, ligado al usuario y al entorno. Entre sus obras destaca un gran n\u00famero de viviendas unifamiliares, colaborando en algunas ocasiones, con el dise\u00f1ador de jardines y paisajista, Couchepin. Entre sus m\u00e1s de ciento veinte proyectos, destacamos \u201cLa Casa Oswald\u201d, en Puerta de Hierro en Madrid; \u201cLa Casa Ben\u00edtez de Lugo\u201d, en las Palmas de Gran Canaria; as\u00ed como las librer\u00edas \u201cTurner\u201d e \u201cHispano-Argentina\u201d en Madrid. Tambi\u00e9n dise\u00f1\u00f3 f\u00e1bricas, laboratorios y otros edificios singulares siguiendo la t\u00e9cnica de F\u00e9lix Candela, del que import\u00f3 su patente desde M\u00e9xico con la ayuda de su hijo arquitecto.\u00a0Realiz\u00f3 en total 114 \u00a0proyectos\u00a0 a lo largo de una vida profesional de m\u00e1s de 50 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cristina Garc\u00eda-Rosales. Se hai unha arquitecta que deber\u00eda ser co\u00f1ecida en Espa\u00f1a \u00e9, ela, Matilde Ucelay Maort\u00faa, nacida en 1912 e falecida en Madrid en novembro do 2008. E non soamente por ser a primeira muller que rematou a carreira de arquitectura neste pa\u00eds, sen\u00f3n por recibir no 2004 o Premio Nacional de Arquitectura, tido sido outorgado anualmente polo Ministerio de Vivenda a<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00abaqueles arquitectos cuxa achega sobresa\u00ednte e continuada, realizada fundamentalmente en Espa\u00f1a, e valorada con criterios obxectivos, puxese de relevo os aspectos sociais, econ\u00f3micos, est\u00e9ticos e tecnol\u00f3xicos da arquitectura\u00bb<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Os reco\u00f1ecementos vi\u00f1\u00e9ronlle algo tarde a esta singular e intelixente muller, a\u00ednda que ela non cr\u00eda en m\u00e1is medallas que o benestar das persoas que habitan nos edificios por ela dese\u00f1ados.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Matilde Ucelay rematou a s\u00faa carreira en 1936. F\u00edxoo dun xeito natural, por vocaci\u00f3n. Como natural foi a s\u00faa infancia dentro do ambiente culto, liberal e progresista da s\u00faa familia, e natural a s\u00faa asistencia ao Instituto Escola (continuador do Instituto Libre de Ensino) onde estudou brillantemente o bacharelato. A s\u00faa materia preferida: proxectos arquitect\u00f3nicos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dous d\u00edas antes de que estalase a guerra civil, foi homenaxeada no Colexio de Arquitectos de Madrid, acto ao que acudiron destacadas figuras da Segunda Rep\u00fablica como o Ministro da Gobernaci\u00f3n, Am\u00f3s Salvador. If there is an arquitecta that should be known in Spain she is, she, Matilde Ucelay Maort\u00faa, born in 1912 and expired in Madrid in November, 2008. And not only for having been the first woman who finished the career of architecture in this country, but for having received in 2004 the National Prize of Architecture, granted anually for the Department of Housing to<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00abthose architects whose excellent and continued contribution, realized fundamentally in Spain, and valued with objective criteria, has emphasized the social, economic, aesthetic and technological aspects of the architecture\u00bb<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The recognitions him came a little late to this singular and intelligent woman, though she did not believe in any more medals that the well-being of the persons who live in the buildings for her designed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Matilde Ucelay finished his career in 1936. It did it in a natural way, for vocation. Since native was his infancy inside the educated, liberal and progressive environment of his family, and native his assistance to the Institute School (continuer of the Free Institute of Education) where he studied brilliantly the baccalaureate. Some of his friends were praised by the careers of Philosophy and Letters or Drugstore, but she had clear that his was the Architecture. Difficult epoch, when less, which happened studying in this mythical thirties in the School of Architecture of Madrid, in spite of some minor disadvantages like that the School was lacking bathrooms for women. Friend of F\u00e9lix Candela and of Joke Goitia and, in spite of the unusual of his situation, always he enjoyed the major respect both his teachers and his companions. His favorite subject: architectural projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two days before the civil war was exploding, it was honoured in the Architects&#8217; College of Madrid, act to which there came out-standing figures of the Second Republic as the Secretary of the Government, Am\u00f3s Salvador. He exercised his labor in really difficult circumstances, immersed in the social context of the epoch, in which the women were meeting confined in the area private and forced to fulfill exclusively domestic and familiar roles, lacking legal rights. Simple and responsible, all his life worked without considering it to be anything exceptionally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His architecture is characterized by a profusion and wealth in the details, and by a design intimist one tied to the user and to the environment. Between his works stands out a great number of one-family housings, collaborating in some occasions, with the designer of gardens and landscape painter, Couchepin. Between his more of hundred twenty projects, we stand out \u00bb The House Oswald\u00bb, in Door of Iron in Madrid; \u00abThe House Ben\u00edtez of Lugo\u00bb, in the Palms of Great Canary; as well as the bookshops \u00abTurner\u00bb and \u00abHispanic-Argentine\u00bb in Madrid. Also he designed factories, laboratories and other singular buildings following F\u00e9lix Candela&#8217;s technology, from that architect imported his patent from Mexico with the help of his son. It realized in total 114 projects along a professional life of more than 50 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cristina Garc\u00eda-Rosales. He participado en m\u00e1s de 250 conferencias, debates, seminarios y congresos, tanto nacionales como internacionales y he comisariado y dise\u00f1ado la exposici\u00f3n \\\"Construir desde el Interior\u201d, 75 obras realizadas por mujeres.
