Esta arquitecta se especializ\u00f3 en el dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n de viviendas sociales y sobre todo es conocida por ser la creadora de la c\u00e9lebre Cocina de Frankfurt, prototipo de la cocina funcional y moderna de nuestros d\u00edas.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_38065\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38065\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/16-Margarete-Sch\u00fctte-Lihotzky.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-38065\" title=\"16-Margarete-Sch\u00fctte-Lihotzky\" src=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/16-Margarete-Sch\u00fctte-Lihotzky.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"1161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/16-Margarete-Sch\u00fctte-Lihotzky.jpg 620w, https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/16-Margarete-Sch\u00fctte-Lihotzky-193x300.jpg 193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38065\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Margarete Sch\u00fctte-Lihotzky<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Las enciclopedias, tratados e historias de la arquitectura contempor\u00e1nea \u2013ya est\u00e1 dicho- raramente citan a las arquitectas pioneras, ni siquiera cuando son conocidas dentro de la profesi\u00f3n, como es este caso u otros similares, y si las nombran lo hacen como si de arquitectos varones se tratara o cuando han sido las esposas o compa\u00f1eras de importantes arquitectos masculinos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As\u00ed Kenneth Frampton, en su libro \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8425222745\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3638&amp;creative=24630&amp;creativeASIN=8425222745&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=veredes-21&amp;linkId=d15c2c649c6b9617d1949913fd709f27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Historia Cr\u00edtica de la Arquitectura Moderna<\/a>\u00bb escribe:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00ab<em>La ultraeficiente cocina tipo laboratorio, la Cocina de Frankfurt, fue dise\u00f1ada por el arquitecto G. Schutte-Lithotzky<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hoy sabemos que G. es la inicial de una magn\u00edfica mujer de los a\u00f1os veinte, la primera arquitecta austr\u00edaca, que firmaba siempre con su\u00a0 diminutivo: <strong>Grethe Schutte-Lihotzky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nacida en 1897, fue la hija rebelde de un funcionario austriaco. Estudi\u00f3 arquitectura en vez de seguir la formaci\u00f3n de institutriz, una de las escasas posibilidades previstas en la Viena de principios del siglo XX para j\u00f3venes burguesas con ambiciones profesionales. Su original talento pronto se dio a conocer: consigui\u00f3 varios premios en su ciudad natal (medalla de bronce y de plata de la ciudad de Viena en 1922 y 1923) y\u00a0 tuvo la gran oportunidad de trabajar con el arquitecto Adolf Loos, autor del libro \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8425200121\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3638&amp;creative=24630&amp;creativeASIN=8425200121&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=veredes-21&amp;linkId=4b080b39de151a9e0a3e741b8754e310\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ornamento y Delito<\/a>\u201d, libro que revolucionar\u00eda la arquitectura moderna dando lugar al movimiento racionalista.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al poco tiempo se traslad\u00f3 a Frankfurt, donde se asoci\u00f3 con el tambi\u00e9n arquitecto y urbanista Ernst May. Juntos se embarcaron en un atractivo proyecto social con el que pudo demostrar su capacidad y su val\u00eda profesional.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En Frankfurt, al igual que en Berl\u00edn, se estaban desarrollando entonces las primeras experiencias europeas en la construcci\u00f3n de viviendas higi\u00e9nicas y estandarizadas, con el objetivo fundamental de mejorar la calidad de vida de sus habitantes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Su intenci\u00f3n era transformar la tipolog\u00eda de viviendas colectivas del siglo XIX, carentes de instalaciones sanitarias, hacinadas en el interior de oscuras y h\u00famedas manzanas cerradas con peque\u00f1os patios interiores de luces. Se pretend\u00edan sustituir por viviendas en bloques abiertos, soleados, blancos y luminosos, separados entre s\u00ed y asentados entre amplias zonas verdes comunes. Con una mentalidad eminentemente social, se creaban espacios colectivos tales como lavaderos, terrazas cubiertas y otros recintos comunitarios, as\u00ed como m\u00faltiples espacios exteriores, con la intenci\u00f3n de favorecer una vida sana y un tejido social \u00edntegro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El trabajo m\u00e1s importante de <strong>Grethe Schuthe-Lihoztky<\/strong> fue el dise\u00f1o de un barrio que se desarroll\u00f3 bajo estas premisas y que realiz\u00f3 junto con Ernst May en <em>Frankfurt am Main<\/em> para las autoridades de la Construcci\u00f3n de la Edificaci\u00f3n de Frankfurt. En este barrio se edificaron 15.000 viviendas, representando el 90% de las construidas en esta ciudad en aquel per\u00edodo. Los est\u00e1ndares m\u00ednimos de May, gracias a los cuales se produjeron tal cantidad de viviendas, al conseguir abaratar costes, depend\u00edan en gran medida de la prefabricaci\u00f3n de los elementos de construcci\u00f3n, de la reducci\u00f3n de la superficie habitable, del uso de ciertos dispositivos de almacenaje, como camas y muebles plegables, y sobre todo de la eficiente cocina que Grethe dise\u00f1\u00f3 hasta el \u00faltimo detalle: la \u00ab<em>Frankfurter K\u00fcche<\/em>\u00ab, referencia emblem\u00e1tica de la vivienda contempor\u00e1nea, fabricada en serie para unas 10.000 viviendas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Este primer ejemplo de cocina estandarizada, ten\u00eda 6.43 m2 y fue producido por el Ayuntamiento de Frankfurt con precios m\u00e1s baratos de los que ofrec\u00eda la industria privada. Estaba destinada a la nueva mujer moderna que no dispon\u00eda de mucho tiempo de dedicaci\u00f3n a las tareas dom\u00e9sticas, con objeto de racionalizar y facilitar su trabajo y mejorar su posici\u00f3n social, al disponer de m\u00e1s tiempo libre para poder desarrollar una actividad profesional fuera del hogar.\u00a0 \u201c<em>Toda mujer pensante\u201d<\/em>, escrib\u00eda Grethe en 1926,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cdebe de ser consciente del retraso que tienen a\u00fan los m\u00e9todos dom\u00e9sticos y debe reconocer que \u00e9stos obstaculizan su propio desarrollo y, por lo tanto, tambi\u00e9n el de su familia.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_38066\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38066\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/17-La-cocina-de-Frankfurt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-38066\" title=\"17-La-cocina-de-Frankfurt\" src=\"http:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/17-La-cocina-de-Frankfurt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"869\" srcset=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/17-La-cocina-de-Frankfurt.jpg 620w, https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/17-La-cocina-de-Frankfurt-259x300.jpg 259w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38066\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\">La cocina de Frankfurt<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La \u00ab<em>Frankfurter K\u00fcche<\/em>\u00bb fue la primera versi\u00f3n de la cocina empotrada moderna, la que ha sustituido a las obsoletas cocinas del siglo XIX. En ella, todas las partes quedan perfectamente integradas y adaptadas en el menor espacio posible de acuerdo con su funci\u00f3n, ya sea de almacenaje, de trabajo, de lavado y planchado o de cocinado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Shutte-Lihotzky<\/strong> vivi\u00f3 la arquitectura como reflejo de una particular filosof\u00eda de vida en la que cre\u00eda y de unos ideales pol\u00edticos que no dud\u00f3 en poner en pr\u00e1ctica. Afiliada al partido comunista, tom\u00f3 una postura activa en campa\u00f1as antifascistas que le costaron cuatro a\u00f1os de c\u00e1rcel, desde 1941 a 1945. Arrestada por los nazis en Austria pudo librarse, excepcionalmente, de la pena de muerte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dedic\u00f3 la pr\u00e1ctica y la teor\u00eda de su profesi\u00f3n a la planificaci\u00f3n de viviendas para los sectores menos privilegiados de la sociedad, particip\u00f3 en grandes proyectos y fue profesora de arquitectura en Mosc\u00fa, donde tanto ella como Ernst May, a partir de los a\u00f1os 30, intentaron repetir sin mucho \u00e9xito el programa de construcci\u00f3n de viviendas realizado en Frankfurt. Ella lo intent\u00f3 en China, Estambul y en la Habana, antes de encontrar en Austria, su pa\u00eds, un reconocimiento tard\u00edo, aunque caluroso.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Su obra se expuso por primera vez en 1993, en el Museo de Artes Aplicadas en Viena. Fue all\u00ed donde, en 1997, Margarethe, ya respetable colega femenina entre sus compa\u00f1eros arquitectos, celebr\u00f3 su propio centenario bailando un \u00faltimo vals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cristina Garc\u00eda-Rosales. Pretend\u00edanse substitu\u00edr por vivendas en bloques abertos, soleados, brancos e luminosos, separados entre si e asentados entre amplas zonas verdes com\u00fans. Cunha mentalidade eminentemente social, cre\u00e1banse espazos colectivos tales como lavadoiros, terrazas cubertas e outros recintos comunitarios, as\u00ed como m\u00faltiples espazos exteriores, coa intenci\u00f3n de favorecer unha vida sa e un tecido social \u00edntegro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O traballo m\u00e1is importante de <strong>Grethe Schuthe-Lihoztky<\/strong> foi o dese\u00f1o dun barrio que se desenvolveu baixo estas premisas e que realizou xunto con Ernst May en <em>Frankfurt am Main<\/em> para as autoridades da Construci\u00f3n da Edificaci\u00f3n de Frankfurt. Schutte-Lithotzky.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today we know that G. is the initial of a magnificent woman of the twenties, the first Austrian arquitecta, who was signing always with his diminutive one: <strong>Grethe Schutte-Lihotzky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Born in 1897, she was the rebellious daughter of an Austrian civil servant. He studied architecture instead of following the governess&#8217;s formation, one of the scanty possibilities foreseen in the Vienna of beginning of the 20th century for bourgeois young women with professional ambitions. His original prompt talent was announced: it obtained several prizes in his natal city (medal of bronze and of silver of the city of Vienna in 1922 and 1923) and it had the great opportunity to work with the architect Adolf Loos, author of the book \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.es\/gp\/product\/8425200121\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=3638&amp;creative=24630&amp;creativeASIN=8425200121&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=veredes-21&amp;linkId=4b080b39de151a9e0a3e741b8754e310\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ornament and Crime<\/a>\u00ab, I free that it would revolutionize the modern architecture giving place to the racionalist movement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To a little time moved to Frankfurt, where there associated with also architect and town planner Ernst May. Together they embarked in an attractive social project with the one that could demonstrate his capacity and his professional value.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Frankfurt, as in Berlin, the first European experiences were developing then in the construction of hygienic and standardized housings, with the fundamental aim to improve the quality of life of his inhabitants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His intention was to transform the typology of collective housings of the 19th century, lacking in sanitary facilities heaped inside dark and humid apples closed with small interior courts of lights. They were trying to replace with housings in opened, sunny, white and luminous blocks, separated between yes and seated between wide common green spaces. With an eminently social mentality, there were created such collective spaces as washers, covered terraces and other community enclosures, as well as multiple exterior spaces, by the intention of favoring a healthy life and a social complete fabric.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Grethe Schuthe-Lihoztky<\/strong>&#8216;s most important work was the design of a neighborhood that developed under these premises and that it realized together with <em>Ernst May in Frankfurt<\/em> am Main for the authorities of the Construction of Frankfurt&#8217;s Building. \u00a0EIn this neighborhood 15.000 housings were built, representing 90 % of the constructed ones in this city in that period. May&#8217;s minimal standards, thanks to which they produced such a quantity of housings, on having managed to cheapen costs, were depending to a great extent on the prefabricaci\u00f3n of the elements of construction, on the reduction of the inhabitable surface, on the use of certain devices of storage, as beds and folding furniture, and especially on the efficient kitchen that Grethe designed up to the last detail: the <em>\u00abFrankfurter K\u00fcche<\/em>\u00ab, reference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This first example of standardized kitchen, it had 6.43 m2 and it was produced by Frankfurt&#8217;s Town hall by cheaper prices of which it was offering the private industry. In her, all the parts stay perfectly integrated and adapted in the minor possible space of agreement with his function, already be of storage, of work, of wash and ironing or of cooked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Shutte-Lihotzky<\/strong> lived through the architecture as reflection of a particular philosophy of life in which he believed and of a few ideal politicians that it did not hesitate to put into practice. Affiliated to the communist party, it took an active position in antifascist campaigns that cost him four years of jail, from 1941 to 1945. Arrested by the Nazi in Austria it could get away, exceptionally, from the death sentence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He dedicated the practice and the theory of his profession to the planning of housings for the least privileged sectors of the company, took part in big projects and was a teacher of architecture in Moscow, where so much she as Ernst May, from the 30s, they tried to repeat without very much success the program of construction of housings realized in Frankfurt. She tried it in China, Istanbul and in the Havana, before finding in Austria, his country, a late recognition, though warm.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His work was exposed by the first time in 1993, in the Museum of Arts Applied in Vienna. He participado en m\u00e1s de 250 conferencias, debates, seminarios y congresos, tanto nacionales como internacionales y he comisariado y dise\u00f1ado la exposici\u00f3n \"Construir desde el Interior\u201d, 75 obras realizadas por mujeres.
