Est\u00e1n considerados cofundadores del brutalismo, y formaron parte del Team 10, un grupo de arquitectos que desde su primera reuni\u00f3n en 1954 ejerci\u00f3, mediante sus publicaciones, una gran influencia en el urbanismo de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. En otras disciplinas art\u00edsticas, tambi\u00e9n formaron parte del <em>Independent Group<\/em> en 1956.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los arquitectos se conocieron mientras estudiaban en la Universidad de Durham y contrajeron matrimonio en 1949, abriendo un estudio propio un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La importancia de esta pareja de arquitectos estriba m\u00e1s en su trabajo te\u00f3rico sobre la arquitectura y el urbanismo que en la construcci\u00f3n de edificios, pero entre sus proyectos destacan el <em>Golden Lane Housing<\/em> (Londres, 1952), donde la composici\u00f3n abierta y compleja del barrio pretende romper con los principios de zonificaci\u00f3n propios del racionalismo de principios de siglo, y la urbanizaci\u00f3n <em>Robin Hood Gardens<\/em> en Londres, construida entre 1966 y 1972.
