Uno quer\u00eda o persegu\u00eda ser moderno, o parecerlo, hasta que cay\u00f3 en la cuenta de que lo moderno fue ayer y que el suspiro del presente era inasible, y la aspiraci\u00f3n de modernidad, tambi\u00e9n. Tan atr\u00e1s que hasta Philip Johnson hace casi sesenta a\u00f1os ya se\u00f1al\u00f3 cu\u00e1les eran las sietes muletas, o <em>muletillas,\u00a0 <\/em>de la arquitectura moderna, que a\u00fan exist\u00eda como tal. Eran, seg\u00fan Johnson, siete: la historia, los dibujos bonitos (que no son arquitectura s\u00f3lo por ser bonitos), la utilidad, el confort, lo barato, el servicio al cliente y la estructura; (<em>history, pretty drawings, utility (usefulness), confort, cheapness, serving the client, structure). <\/em>A pesar de todo, no puede decirse que estuviera muy acertado y un an\u00e1lisis no muy profundo podr\u00eda desmontar muchas de esas ideas, empezando quiz\u00e1 por la de una arquitectura moderna y a la vez pretendidamente barata, por no hablar de una arquitectura que proporcionara confort y servicio al cliente, ideas que no est\u00e1n en absoluto presentes en algunas de los edificios m\u00e1s conocidos de la arquitectura moderna, que eran m\u00e1s bien todo lo contrario: caros, poco confortables y nada al servicio del usuario o cliente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde, Paul Rudolph convino que eran seis los determinantes de la arquitectura moderna, si bien no se refer\u00eda a la arquitectura en general sino a la forma arquitect\u00f3nica en particular, es decir, hac\u00eda una valiente y quiz\u00e1 osada equivalencia entre arquitectura y forma. En cualquier caso, los seis determinantes de la forma arquitect\u00f3nica eran, para Rudolph: el entorno del edificio, su relaci\u00f3n con otros edificios y el lugar;\u00a0 el aspecto funcional; la regi\u00f3n, el clima, el paisaje y las condiciones de luz natural a las que uno se enfrenta; los materiales; las especiales exigencias psicol\u00f3gicas del espacio; y la relaci\u00f3n con el esp\u00edritu de los tiempos. Resumiendo: entorno, funci\u00f3n, clima y paisaje, materiales, exigencias psicol\u00f3gicas del espacio y <em>zeitgeist<\/em>. Habiendo sido Rudolph un formalista muy convencido, sorprende encontrar tantos condicionantes externos que poco parec\u00edan ser tenidos en cuenta en edificios m\u00e1s preocupados de la volumetr\u00eda o la expresi\u00f3n de una materialidad sincera que del entorno, el clima o el paisaje.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En ambos listados, apenas coincidentes a pesar de la cercan\u00eda temporal, sorprende no s\u00f3lo eso, la disparidad de condicionantes que ambos apuntan, sino tambi\u00e9n la ausencia de referencia alguna a uno de los conceptos en los que se inspirara originalmente el Movimiento Moderno y su arquitectura, que no es otro que el de <em>Gesamtkunstwerk <\/em>(obra de arte total)<em>. <\/em>Es decir, no es extra\u00f1o no encontrarlo en estos listados de Rudolph y Johnson, si con ellos, en cierto modo, tambi\u00e9n se est\u00e1n explicando ellos mismos y su arquitectura. One wanted or was chasing to be modern, or it to seem, until it fell down in the account of which the modern thing was yesterday and which the sigh of the present was inasible, and the aspiration of modernity, also. So behind that up to Philip Johnson almost sixty years ago already it indicated which were the sietes crutches, or <em>canes<\/em>, of the modern architecture, which still existed as such. They were, according to Johnson, seven: the history, the nice drawings (that are not an architecture only for being nice), the usefulness, the comfort, the cheap thing, the service to the client and the structure; (<em>history, pretty drawings, utility (usefulness), comfort, cheapness, serving the client, structure<\/em>). Regardless, it cannot be said that it was very guessed right and a not very deep analysis might dismantle many of these ideas, beginning probably for that of a modern architecture and simultaneously allegedly barter, for not speaking about an architecture that was providing comfort and service to the client, ideas that are not by no means present in any of the buildings most known about the modern architecture, which were rather everything opposite: expensive, slightly comfortable and nothing to the service of the user or client.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En arquitectura, nadie se autodefinir\u00eda como moderno (excepto en las revistas m\u00e1s vulgares) ni querr\u00eda que su arquitectura fuera moderna, ya que todo el mundo sabe lo que es la arquitectura moderna, asociada a un determinado periodo hist\u00f3rico que ya hemos dejado atr\u00e1s. In any case, six determinants of the architectural form were, for Rudolph: the environment of the building, his relation with other buildings and the place; the functional aspect; the region, the climate, the landscape and the conditions of natural light which one faces; the materials; the special psychological requirements of the space; and the relation with the spirit of the times. Summarizing: environment, function, climate and landscape, materials, psychological requirements of the space and <em>zeitgeist<\/em>. Having been Rudolph a very convinced formalist, it surprises find so many determining day pupils who small were seeming to be had in account in buildings more worried about the volumetry or the expression of a sincere materiality that of the environment, the climate or the landscape.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In both lists, you upset coincidental in spite of the temporary nearness, it is surprised not only it, the disparity of determining that both appear, but also the absence of some reference to one of the concepts in which there was inspired originally the Modern Movement and his architecture, which is not other one that that of<em> Gesamtkunstwerk (work of total art).\u00a0<\/em>That is to say, it is not strange not to find it in these lists of Rudolph and Johnson, if with them, in certain way, also they themselves and his architecture are explained. Malia todo, non pode dicirse que estivese moi acertado e unha an\u00e1lise non moi profundo poder\u00eda desmontar moitas desas ideas, empezando quiz\u00e1 pola dunha arquitectura moderna e \u00e1 vez pretendidamente barata, por non falar dunha arquitectura que proporcionase confort e servizo ao cliente, ideas que non est\u00e1n en absoluto presentes nalgunhas dos edificios m\u00e1is co\u00f1ecidos da arquitectura moderna, que eran m\u00e1is ben todo o contrario: caros, pouco confortables e nada ao servizo do usuario ou cliente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dous anos m\u00e1is tarde, Paul Rudolph conveu que eran seis os determinantes da arquitectura moderna, a\u00ednda que non se refer\u00eda \u00e1 arquitectura en xeral sen\u00f3n \u00e1 forma arquitect\u00f3nica en particular, \u00e9 dicir, fac\u00eda unha valente e quiz\u00e1 ousada equivalencia entre arquitectura e forma. En calquera caso, os seis determinantes da forma arquitect\u00f3nica eran, para Rudolph: a contorna do edificio, a s\u00faa relaci\u00f3n con outros edificios e o lugar; o aspecto funcional; a rexi\u00f3n, o clima, a paisaxe e as condici\u00f3ns de luz natural \u00e1s que un se enfronta; os materiais; as especiais esixencias psicol\u00f3xicas do espazo; e a relaci\u00f3n co esp\u00edrito dos tempos. Resumindo: contorna, funci\u00f3n, clima e paisaxe, materiais, esixencias psicol\u00f3xicas do espazo e <em>zeitgeist<\/em>. Habendo sido Rudolph un formalista moi convencido, sorprende atopar tantos condicionantes externos que pouco parec\u00edan ser tidos en conta en edificios m\u00e1is preocupados da volumetr\u00eda ou a expresi\u00f3n dunha materialidad sincera que da contorna, o clima ou a paisaxe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En ambos listados, apenas coincidentes malia a proximidade temporal, sorprende non s\u00f3 iso, a disparidad de condicionantes que ambos apuntan, sen\u00f3n tam\u00e9n a ausencia de referencia algunha a un dos conceptos nos que se inspirase originalmente o Movemento Moderno e a s\u00faa arquitectura, que non \u00e9 outro que o de Gesamtkunstwerk (obra de arte total). \u00c9 dicir, non \u00e9 estra\u00f1o non atopalo nestes listados de Rudolph e Johnson, si con eles, en certo xeito, tam\u00e9n se est\u00e1n explicando eles mesmos e a s\u00faa arquitectura.
