Hay momentos para recitar poes\u00eda y hay momentos para boxear<sup>5<\/sup>.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Hay que leer a Borges<\/strong><sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Escrib\u00eda Roberto Bola\u00f1o en su novela <em>2666<\/em> sobre la cobard\u00eda del lector al enfrentarse a los grandes cl\u00e1sicos. Dec\u00eda: \u201c<em>quieren ver a los grandes maestros en sesiones de esgrima de entrenamiento, pero no quieren saber nada de los combates de verdad, en donde los grandes maestros luchan contra aquello, ese aquello que nos atemoriza a todos, ese aquello que acoquina y encacha, y hay sangre y heridas mortales y fetidez.\u201d <\/em><sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Quiz\u00e1s guiados por la prisa patol\u00f3gica que invade la contemporaneidad, cada vez m\u00e1s breve, el panorama art\u00edstico en general, y por ende el arquitect\u00f3nico, se han visto contagiados de esa cobard\u00eda que aventuraba el chileno. Porque la manera en que un adulto se enfrenta a <em>Moby Dick<\/em>, no difiere de la forma en que diseccionamos cada rinc\u00f3n de <em>Le\u00e7a de Palmeira<\/em> o redibujamos cada despiece de <em>Castellvecchio<\/em>. Ambas dos necesitan de un componente fundamental, tiempo. Y por lo tanto, abstraerse de la velocidad contagiosa que marca el tempo de las tendencias. Hacer un ejercicio de reflexi\u00f3n y aprehensi\u00f3n que nos permita apreciar el valor de esas heridas y cicatrices que definen el rostro de quien forma parte de la historia. De quien tom\u00f3 parte en los grandes combates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Y as\u00ed, como los escritores, los arquitectos hemos de formarnos no s\u00f3lo a trav\u00e9s de la ense\u00f1anza frontal, sino a trav\u00e9s de la lectura. Lectura que en nuestro caso se produce a trav\u00e9s del dibujo, de la fotograf\u00eda, de la aprehensi\u00f3n, del viaje, de la copia e imitaci\u00f3n, de perder el miedo a incorporar aquello que se nos ha dejado en herencia. Ha de potenciarse, desde las escuelas, el conocimiento de la historia como una herramienta activa y no como una disciplina ajena al proceso de gestaci\u00f3n de un proyecto, hacer comprender que no solo lo actual es contempor\u00e1neo. Perder el miedo subirse a hombros de aquellos <em>gigantes<\/em> que nos permiten ver m\u00e1s lejos de los que hablaba Bernardo de Chartres.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Como bien dijo Jorge Meijide en un art\u00edculo anterior<sup>3<\/sup>, \u201c<em>los arquitectos, como los escritores, jugamos a componer nuestras respectivas obras con elementos heredados<\/em>\u201d, y que mejor herencia que el legado de los grandes maestros en sus obras m\u00e1s potentes, el camino recorrido desde las primeras lecturas y bocetos que derivan en los \u00faltimos detalles que hacen de cada una de las partes del proyecto, una tesis doctoral. Los elementos heredados de las grandes obras necesitan a\u00fan de m\u00e1s trabajo de desgrane y compresi\u00f3n para poder ser \u00fatiles a la hora de elaborar un proyecto que los mimbres prestados por obras de menor empaque intelectual. Es por ello que su adhesi\u00f3n a nuestra retah\u00edla de recursos ante las oportunidades que nos ofrece cada uno de los problemas que surgen en cualquier producci\u00f3n art\u00edstica, aporta una satisfacci\u00f3n digna del esfuerzo acometido.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Porque como dec\u00eda Bola\u00f1o, hay un <em>aquello<\/em> que nos atemoriza a todos. Hay problemas, preguntas y temores comunes, que a lo largo de la historia han ido encontrando diferentes soluciones, nunca definitivas ni excluyentes, que nos permiten ir formando nuestras propias respuestas en las primeras etapas de formaci\u00f3n, para despu\u00e9s desarrollar y poner en pr\u00e1ctica. Es una labor que hay que acometer con frescura y pausa, con hambre de conocimiento y tiempo para asimilarlo. Porque no es casualidad que los artistas del siglo XX realizasen sus grandes viajes antes de la treintena.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Enfrent\u00e1ndonos al descubrimiento de las grandes obras que la historia nos ha ido dejando en pr\u00e9stamo, ser\u00e1 como formemos una amalgama de conocimiento id\u00f3nea para que al realizar un corte intelectual, encontremos las herramientas suficientes para traducirse en arquitectura, literatura, cine o cual sea el lenguaje que prefiramos.
