Cuando realiz\u00f3 su primer viaje a Nueva York, invitado por las autoridades de EUUU, lo hizo a bordo de uno y qued\u00f3\u00a0muy\u00a0impresionado al experimentar durante la traves\u00eda, que la vida de un barco se diferenciaba muy poco de la vida de un Gran Hotel de lujo. Al mar se le elud\u00eda, se le ocultaba como a un ni\u00f1o mal educado ante unas visitas de compromiso.<\/p>\n Le Corbusier m\u00e1s tarde<\/strong>\u00a0-en el libro \u00abCuando las Catedrales eran Blancas\u00bb-\u00a0escribi\u00f3 lo diferente que ser\u00eda un viaje en transatl\u00e1ntico acompa\u00f1ado del mar como de un amigo, lo mismo que el viajero de ferrocarril se siente acompa\u00f1ado por el paisaje fugaz<\/strong>. Para ello imagin\u00f3 un barco con grandes paneles de vidrio que relacionaran al viajero con el submundo oce\u00e1nico. A trav\u00e9s de ellos se observar\u00eda la vida de los peces, la flora marina y la belleza de las profundidades. Incluso la maquinaria del barco quedar\u00eda a la vista, para instruir \u00a0a los interesados en los secretos de la navegaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n Algo parecido ocurre en\u00a0\u00a0las grandes urbes actuales. La ciudad cotidiana no gusta.<\/strong> Fragmentada funcionalmente, con distancias enormes entre las distintas actividades que contiene, recorrida a\u00a0gran velocidad en autom\u00f3vil, ha dejado de interesar y se la ignora, se la esconde, lo mismo que al mar en el ejemplo anterior. <\/strong>El individuo se a\u00edsla en su propio microcosmos, lo que le conduce inevitablemente a la soledad y a la melancol\u00eda.\u00a0Se vive en la ciudad a pesar de ella misma, ocult\u00e1ndola tras visillos y cerrojos,\u00a0igual que el mar oculto,<\/strong>\u00a0como dec\u00eda Le Corbusier, a bordo de un transatl\u00e1ntico.<\/strong><\/p>\n Afortunadamente existen \u00a0ciudades bellas y luminosas, acogedoras y habitables y cada vez hay m\u00e1s inter\u00e9s y sensibilizaci\u00f3n por parte de la ciudadan\u00eda en el dise\u00f1o y recuperaci\u00f3n de nuestras ciudades.<\/p>\n Quisiera incidir\u00a0\u00a0en dos ideas esenciales:<\/p>\n – La primera consiste en que\u00a0es fundamental que participen las mujeres. Junto con los hombres, a la hora de planificar<\/strong>, de buscar soluciones, de gestionar recursos, de estar presentes en la toma de decisiones, en definitiva, de hacer ciudad.<\/p>\n – La segunda es transmitir mi convencimiento de que los lugares p\u00fablicos de la ciudad<\/strong> no deben de ser entendidos como meros reductos residuales entre bloques, o entre el paso veloz de los veh\u00edculos, espacios degradados, terrenos de nadie…Sino como lugares de encuentro del ser humano consigo mismo, con los dem\u00e1s y con el medio en el que habita, expresi\u00f3n de la cultura de un pueblo y representaci\u00f3n de las aspiraciones de una determinada sociedad. <\/strong><\/p>\n Lugares que van conformando nuestra propia identidad a trav\u00e9s de la memoria. Y es con la memoria con la que evocamos recuerdos buenos y recuerdos malos, seg\u00fan las diferentes experiencias espaciales.\u00a0Los recuerdos buenos est\u00e1n ligados a la emoci\u00f3n, al afecto, a la belleza. Al hecho de habitar.<\/strong> Son los lugares que permanecen, los que reconocemos, los que a\u00f1oramos… Los que constituyen \u201cel alma de la ciudad\u201d. El \u00abalma\u00bb es lo que se ve, lo que se percibe, lo que se siente.<\/strong><\/p>\n En definitiva, construyamos nuestras ciudades con armon\u00eda, con sosiego, con mesura, y tambi\u00e9n con pasi\u00f3n.
