En Barcelona le hab\u00edan llevado a la Monumental, y se lo hab\u00eda pasado muy bien. Por eso los madrile\u00f1os pensaron que ya no ten\u00eda mucho sentido llevarle a Las Ventas. Ese objetivo ya estaba cubierto. En realidad el finland\u00e9s no parec\u00eda estar dispuesto a que le llevaran a ning\u00fan sitio. Quer\u00eda andorrear por Madrid a su aire y perderse \u00e9l solo. Quer\u00eda, como buen turista, hacer unas compras.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fernando Chueca<\/strong> se ofreci\u00f3 amablemente a acompa\u00f1arle y hacerle de int\u00e9rprete, pero \u00e9l mismo cont\u00f3 despu\u00e9s que sent\u00eda que le hab\u00eda estorbado y que Alvar Aalto habr\u00eda preferido estar solo y a sus anchas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al forastero no le interesaban ni los museos, ni los monumentos, ni los espacios urbanos de Madrid, sino solo los <em>souvenirs<\/em> y las chorradas que le gustar\u00edan a cualquier persona inculta y simplona; las espa\u00f1oladas m\u00e1s evidentes y descaradas. (\u00a1Qu\u00e9 consternaci\u00f3n! \u00a1Qu\u00e9 verg\u00fcenza!).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Entraron los dos arquitectos en la prestigiosa <em>Casa de Linares<\/em>. Alvar Aalto se volvi\u00f3 loco comprando peinetas y otros abalorios, y cuando descubri\u00f3 las casta\u00f1uelas se lanz\u00f3 a por ellas: tocaba la madera, acariciaba su curvatura, por las caras c\u00f3ncavas y las convexas, las chocaba para que sonaran y se las quedaba escuchando como si fueran diapasones. Finalmente se qued\u00f3 con un par.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fueron a la caja y el empelado se puso rojo. Avergonzado y t\u00edmido le dijo a Chueca que las casta\u00f1uelas que hab\u00eda elegido el se\u00f1or extranjero eran de profesional, las mejores que hab\u00eda, y costaban cuatrocientas cincuenta pesetas. Para llevarlas de recuerdo hab\u00eda muchas muy buenas, de entre quince y veinte pesetas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As\u00ed se lo explic\u00f3 Chueca a Aalto, para que este enmendara su involuntario y costos\u00edsimo error, pero el finland\u00e9s no solo no lo corrigi\u00f3, sino que se puso muy contento. Eso demostraba que conoc\u00eda la madera mejor que nadie. Amaba los materiales, y aunque no ten\u00eda ni idea de casta\u00f1uelas hab\u00eda sabido elegir las mejores. Le entusiasm\u00f3 ese halago a su ojo cl\u00ednico, que hab\u00eda despreciado las casta\u00f1uelas de veinte pesetas para turistas y hab\u00eda ido derecho a las de cuatrocientas cincuenta, a las de verdad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La cuenta total ascend\u00eda a seiscientas pesetas, que el finland\u00e9s pag\u00f3 encantado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tras este \u00e9xito de experto flamenc\u00f3logo, fue a comprar unos pendientes para su hija y un corte de tela de gabardina para \u00e9l.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finalmente, Aalto y Chueca terminaron en el bar del <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westinpalacemadrid.com\/?PS=EAME_aa_Starwood_Iberia-79_Google%20ES_westin%20palace%20madrid_04\/23\/10\">Hotel Palace<\/a>, tomando unas copas. Charlaron animadamente, y el madrile\u00f1o sinti\u00f3 un vivo afecto por el finland\u00e9s (m\u00e1s vivo a cada nuevo whisky). No acabaron cantando el <em>Asturiaspatriaquerida<\/em> porque Alvar Aalto no se la sab\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se despidieron afectuosamente. Chueca ech\u00f3 a andar por la Carrera de San Jer\u00f3nimo, y Aalto, ya solo, ya libre de anfitriones pesados, fue al mostrador de recepci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">-Per fav\u00f3. Io Finlandia. Io tablao flamenco. -Sac\u00f3 las casta\u00f1uelas-. Io tacatacatat\u00e1 \u00a1y ol\u00e9!<br \/>\n-\u00a1C\u00f3mo no, caballero! Aqu\u00ed mismo, muy cerca&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El gran arquitecto finland\u00e9s fue por fin libre, en la noche de Madrid. Tacatacatat\u00e1 \u00a1y ol\u00e9!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_48547\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48547\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/toros.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-48547\" title=\"toros\" src=\"https:\/\/veredes.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/toros.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"1128\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-48547\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\">Este cartel es una invenci\u00f3n-chorrada m\u00eda.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #888888;\">En 1951 a\u00fan no exist\u00eda eso de que pusieran tu nombre en un cartel,<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #888888;\">pero de haber existido, seguramente Aalto se lo habr\u00eda puesto.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Otro de los momentos memorables de la visita de Aalto a Madrid tuvo lugar en la casa de <strong>Luis Guti\u00e9rrez Soto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Si <strong>Carlos de Miguel<\/strong> era el director de la revista <a href=\"http:\/\/www.revistaarquitectura.com\/\"><em>Arquitectura<\/em><\/a>, y el anfitri\u00f3n de la visita de Alvar Aalto a Madrid, el gran hermano mayor era Luis Guti\u00e9rrez Soto. Por edad, por prestigio, por poder econ\u00f3mico, por prestancia y por todo, era el l\u00edder del grupo, y por lo tanto la gran cena de despedida ten\u00eda que hacerse en su casa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ten\u00eda (como no pod\u00eda ser menos) dos magn\u00edficos pisos en la esquina de las calles de Padilla y de N\u00fa\u00f1ez de Balboa (buena esquina), uno encima del otro, comunicados interiormente por una escalera de caracol. El de arriba era su vivienda y el de abajo su estudio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prepar\u00f3 una estupenda cena, servida por camareros, en uno de sus grandes salones, y sent\u00f3 a Alvar Aalto a su lado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La cena transcurri\u00f3 con gran cordialidad. Alvar Aalto hablaba con sencillez de su obra y de su concepci\u00f3n de la arquitectura y de la vida, y tambi\u00e9n escuchaba con inter\u00e9s las ideas y opiniones de los dem\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fue una velada inolvidable (como se suele decir). Hablaron, bebieron, cantaron, rieron, y todos terminaron encantados y felices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se despidieron cordialmente, y ya en la calle se abrazaron a Alvar Aalto. Este tom\u00f3 un taxi para irse a su hotel y los dem\u00e1s se separaron, para irse cada uno a su casa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero <a href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rafael_Aburto\"><strong>Rafael Aburto<\/strong><\/a> se acerc\u00f3 a Carlos de Miguel, en un aparte final. Parec\u00eda haber estado esperando todo el tiempo a quedarse a solas con \u00e9l. As\u00ed lo entendi\u00f3 De Miguel, que le recibi\u00f3 expectante.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 le querr\u00eda decir Rafael? \u00bfQu\u00e9 habr\u00eda estado guard\u00e1ndose? Estaba seguro de que ser\u00eda algo muy importante: Alvar Aalto, la arquitectura moderna, nuevas perspectivas para la arquitectura espa\u00f1ola, alguna idea de trabajo, alguna propuesta, alguna conclusi\u00f3n, alguna observaci\u00f3n definitiva&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\">-Oye, Carlos&#8230; Quer\u00eda comentarte una cosa.<br \/>\n-S\u00ed. Dime, Rafael.<br \/>\n-\u00bfTe has fijado&#8230; ah\u00ed, en casa de Luis&#8230;?<br \/>\n-\u00bfS\u00ed?<br \/>\n-Estaba Alvar Aalto sentado tal que aqu\u00ed, y Luis ah\u00ed, \u00bfno?<br \/>\n-S\u00ed. S\u00ed.<br \/>\n-A la izquierda de Luis, detr\u00e1s, hab\u00eda un piano de cola.<br \/>\n-\u00bf?<br \/>\n-Y sobre el piano hab\u00eda un mant\u00f3n de Manila.<br \/>\n-\u00bf?<br \/>\n-Oye, Carlos: \u00bfDe qu\u00e9 color era el mant\u00f3n?<br \/>\n-\u00bfEh?<br \/>\n-S\u00ed. El mant\u00f3n de Manila. \u00bfDe qu\u00e9 color era?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carlos de Miguel se qued\u00f3 unos segundos perplejo, boquiabierto, y al cabo, viendo la expresi\u00f3n de franco inter\u00e9s de Rafael Aburto, que esperaba su opini\u00f3n, le dio un ataque de risa. Finalmente quedou cun par.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Foron \u00e1 caixa e o empelado p\u00faxose vermello. Avergonzado e t\u00edmido d\u00edxolle a Chueca que as casta\u00f1olas que elixira o se\u00f1or estranxeiro eran de profesional, as mellores que hab\u00eda, e custaban catrocentas cincuenta pesetas. Para levalas de recordo hab\u00eda moitas moi boas, de entre quince e vinte pesetas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As\u00ed llo explicou Chueca a Aalto, para que este emendase o seu involuntario e custoso erro, pero o finland\u00e9s non s\u00f3 non o corrixiu, sen\u00f3n que se puxo moi contento. Iso demostraba que co\u00f1ec\u00eda a madeira mellor que ningu\u00e9n. Amaba os materiais, e a\u00ednda que non ti\u00f1a nin idea de casta\u00f1olas soubera elixir as mellores. Entusiasmoulle ese afago ao seu ollo cl\u00ednico, que desprezara as casta\u00f1olas de vinte pesetas para turistas e fora dereito \u00e1s de catrocentas cincuenta, \u00e1s de verdade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A conta total ascend\u00eda a seiscentas pesetas, que o finland\u00e9s pagou encantado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tras este \u00e9xito de experto flamenc\u00f3logo, foi comprar uns pendentes para a s\u00faa filla e un corte de tea de gabardina para el.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finalmente, Aalto e Chueca remataron no bar do\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.westinpalacemadrid.com\/?PS=EAME_aa_Starwood_Iberia-79_Google%20ES_westin%20palace%20madrid_04\/23\/10\">Hotel Palace<\/a>, ttomando unhas copas. Aqu\u00ed mesmo, moi preto&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">O grande arquitecto finland\u00e9s foi por fin libre, na noite de Madrid. O de arriba era a s\u00faa vivenda e o de abaixo o seu estudo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Preparou unha estupenda cea, servida por camareiros, nun dos seus grandes sal\u00f3ns, e sentou a Alvar Aalto ao seu lado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A cea transcorreu con gran cordialidade. Alvar Aalto falaba con sinxeleza da s\u00faa obra e da s\u00faa concepci\u00f3n da arquitectura e da vida, e tam\u00e9n escoitaba con interese as ideas e opini\u00f3ns dos demais.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Foi unha reuni\u00f3n inesquecible (como se adoita dicir). Falaron, beberon, cantaron, riron, e todos remataron encantados e felices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Desped\u00edronse cordialmente, e xa na r\u00faa se abrazaron a Alvar Aalto. Este tomou un taxi para irse ao seu hotel e os demais separ\u00e1ronse, para irse cada un \u00e1 s\u00faa casa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero <a href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rafael_Aburto\"><strong>Rafael Aburto<\/strong><\/a> achegouse a Carlos de Miguel, nun aparte final. Of above it was his housing and of below his study.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It prepared a marvellous dinner served by waiters, in one of his big lounges, and sat Alvar Aalto to his side.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The dinner passed with great warmth. Alvar Aalto was speaking with simplicity of his work and of his conception of the architecture and of the life, and also he was listening with interest to the ideas and opinions of the others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was an unforgettable party (since it is in the habit of saying). They spoke, drank, sang, laughed, and they all ended delighted and happy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They said goodbye cordial, and already in the street abrazaron to Alvar Aalto.
