Nacido en 1957, Francisco Mangado es uno de los arquitectos espa\u00f1oles m\u00e1s prol\u00edfico y destacado de su generaci\u00f3n. Entre sus obras m\u00e1s valoradas y publicadas est\u00e1n el Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra, Baluarte, en su Pamplona natal, el primer edificio que le dio a conocer internacionalmente; el Pabell\u00f3n de Espa\u00f1a en la Expo de Zaragoza, con el que obtuvo la Medalla de Oro de la UIA GIANCARLO IUS, adem\u00e1s del Premio Nacional de Arquitectura; el Museo de Arqueolog\u00eda en Vitoria, ganador del premio Cooper en Arquitectura; el Centro de Exposiciones y Congresos de \u00c1vila (que junto con el Baluarte fue elegido para formar parte de la Exposici\u00f3n \u201cOn Site, New Architecture in Spain\u201d que el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York, MoMA, organiz\u00f3 en 2006 sobre arquitectura espa\u00f1ola); el Centro ecuestre de Ultzama en Navarra; y el m\u00e1s reciente de todos: el Auditorio Municipal de Teulada (Alicante), su primera obra Mediterr\u00e1nea.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de edificios p\u00fablicos y privados, Mangado ha dise\u00f1ado una l\u00ednea de l\u00e1mparas, sillas y bancos. Su vocaci\u00f3n pedag\u00f3gica gira en torno a su labor de profesor en la Universidad de Navarra que le ha llevado tambi\u00e9n a ense\u00f1ar en escuelas de arquitectura en el extranjero, tales como Harvard, Yale y actualmente en la EPF de Lausanne. Por \u00faltimo, es importante destacar, su compromiso a trav\u00e9s de la Fundaci\u00f3n Arquitectura y Sociedad para impulsar la interacci\u00f3n de la arquitectura con otras disciplinas.<\/p>\n

La flexibilidad del trabajo de Mangado y su capacidad para tratar con los actores sociales, los materiales y la historia, es fundamental. Como \u00e9l dice: <\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cEl tiempo es el material m\u00e1s importante en la arquitectura, la b\u00fasqueda de la belleza es una dimensi\u00f3n \u00e9tica. La forma en arquitectura, solo puede ser entendida sujeta al contenido. La arquitectura es una disciplina que tiene una dimensi\u00f3n c\u00edvica y social.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

La exposici\u00f3n itinerante \u201cFrancisco Mangado. Arquitecto\u201d<\/em> se inaugur\u00f3 a principios de a\u00f1o en el C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. Posteriormente fue exhibida en el Auditorio Municipal de Teulada y en el Palacio del Condestable de Pamplona. A trav\u00e9s de maquetas de proyectos y de representaciones digitales de los interiores y de las piezas de mobiliario urbano, la exposici\u00f3n presenta gran parte de la producci\u00f3n como arquitecto y dise\u00f1ador industrial de Francisco Mangado. Un documental hace un recorrido por sus principales obras construidas mientras el arquitecto nos seduce con alguna de sus m\u00e1s profundas reflexiones y puntos de vista, recogidos en entrevistas con\u00a0 sus mentores y amigos, tales como Rafael Moneo, \u00c1lvaro Siza, Eduardo Souto de Moura y Juan Herreros.<\/p>\n
