A pesar del esfuerzo realizado por Hans Holbein en el siglo XVI para ofrecer una imagen de la isla ideada por Tom\u00e1s Moro, no ha sido posible generar una iconograf\u00eda espec\u00edficamente ut\u00f3pica. Esto se debe, tal vez, a que la utop\u00eda es una idea abstracta basada en el orden social y la ecuanimidad de la justicia. Estos conceptos, m\u00e1s que reclamar im\u00e1genes que muestren la felicidad de los ciudadanos ut\u00f3picos o la magnificencia de los logros de su sociedad, se expresan por medio de elementos abstractos, como la tersa rectitud de la l\u00ednea, el orden de la ret\u00edcula o la regularidad en la sucesi\u00f3n de intervalos, es decir, se encarna en las sobrias leyes de la geometr\u00eda.
