Hijo de brasile\u00f1os, realiz\u00f3 los estudios b\u00e1sicos en Inglaterra y Suiza, hasta 1916, y se gradu\u00f3 arquitecto en 1924, en la Escuela de Bellas Artes, en la ciudad de Rio de Janeiro. El inter\u00e9s despertado por las obras de Lucio Costa viene de la estrecha relaci\u00f3n que su obra establece entre la tradici\u00f3n constructiva y la est\u00e9tica barroca brasile\u00f1a con los postulados modernistas, alter\u00e1ndolos en funci\u00f3n de una actitud humanista y cl\u00e1sica al mismo tiempo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lucio Costa, intelectual y erudito, define los par\u00e1metros te\u00f3ricos de la arquitectura brasile\u00f1a desde la d\u00e9cada de los 20, cuando exhibe en los trabajos iniciales el estilo neocolonial, primera manifestaci\u00f3n aut\u00f3ctona de las Am\u00e9ricas en defensa de las ra\u00edces luso-ib\u00e9ricas. En 1930-32 resulta muy positiva para Lucio Costa la asociaci\u00f3n con el arquitecto ruso Gregori Warchavchik, futurista que implant\u00f3 el modernismo en Brasil. Tras los estudios en Roma y Mil\u00e1n, Warchavchik fue invitado por la Constructora Simonsen, en 1926, a trabajar en S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La pol\u00e9mica participaci\u00f3n en la modernizaci\u00f3n de la ense\u00f1anza de arquitectura, un breve periodo al inicio de los a\u00f1os 30, en la condici\u00f3n de director de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, y el liderazgo en la defensa del patrimonio hist\u00f3rico y art\u00edstico, repartido con los modernistas M\u00e1rio de Andrade, Rodrigo Melo Franco y Manuel Bandeira, llevan a Lucio Costa a su constante revisi\u00f3n y actualizaci\u00f3n. El instante m\u00e1s expresivo de esa fase es la construcci\u00f3n del edificio sede del antiguo Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n y Salud, en 1936-46. Fillo de brasileiros, realizou os estudos b\u00e1sicos en Inglaterra e Su\u00edza, ata 1916, e se gradu\u00f3 arquitecto en 1924, na Escola de Belas Artes, na cidade de Rio de Janeiro. O interese espertado polas obras de Lucio Costa v\u00e9n da estreita relaci\u00f3n que a s\u00faa obra establece entre a tradici\u00f3n construtiva e a est\u00e9tica barroca brasileira cos postulados modernistas, alter\u00e1ndoos en funci\u00f3n dunha actitude humanista e cl\u00e1sica ao mesmo tempo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lucio Costa, intelectual e erudito, define os par\u00e1metros te\u00f3ricos da arquitectura brasileira desde a d\u00e9cada dos 20, cando exhibe nos traballos iniciais o estilo neocolonial, primeira manifestaci\u00f3n aut\u00f3ctona das Am\u00e9ricas en defensa das ra\u00edces luso-ib\u00e9ricas. O instante m\u00e1is expresivo desa fase \u00e9 a construci\u00f3n do edificio sede do antigo Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n e Sa\u00fade, en 1936-46. Son of Brazilians, realized the basic studies in England and Switzerland, until 1916, and architect graduated in 1924, in the Art school, in the city of Rio of Janeiro. The interest woken up by Lucio Costa&#8217;s works comes from the narrow relation that his work establishes between the constructive tradition and the baroque Brazilian aesthetics with the modernist postulates, altering them depending on a humanist and classic attitude at the same time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lucio Costa, intellectual and erudite, defines the theoretical parameters of the Brazilian architecture from the decade of the 20, when it exhibits in the initial works the style neocolonial, the first autochthonous manifestation of the Americas in defense of the luso-Iberian roots. In 1930-32 the association turns out to be very positive for Lucio Costa with the Russian architect Gregori Warchavchik, futurist who implanted the modernism in Brazil. After the studies in Rome and Milan, Warchavchik was invited by the Construction Simonsen, in 1926, to be employed at S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The polemic participation in the modernization of the education of architecture, a brief period to the beginning of the 30s, in the director&#8217;s condition of the National School of Fine arts, and the leadership in the defense of the heritage historical and artistic, distributed with the modernists M\u00e1rio de Andrade, Rodrigo Melo Franco and Manuel Bandeira, they take Lucio Costa to his constant review and update. The most expressive instant of this phase is the construction of the building sedate of the former Department of Education and Health, in 1936-46.
