Partiendo con una revisi\u00f3n de los debates generados en la obra de la catedral de Santiago en el s. XVIII \u2013marcados por la diferencia entre la aspiraci\u00f3n a una forma construida y lo que la realidad s\u00edsmica hace posible\u2013 ARQ 77 presenta ocho obras de arquitectura contempor\u00e1nea en que los materiales son puestos a prueba para satisfacer una variedad de demandas opuestas, comunes ante la emergencia: liviandad, velocidad, econom\u00eda o m\u00e1xima contenci\u00f3n. En todas ellas opera el desapego a la convenci\u00f3n, en el mismo esp\u00edritu de la casa de Frank Gehry en Santa M\u00f3nica; como recuerda el art\u00edculo que cierra el n\u00famero, la urgencia puede ser un buen empuje hacia lo nuevo o lo subversivo.
