The tour that we realize for the tangent activities that the architects develop has taken us up to Madrid to know Paula Elgart.
This Argentine architecture bought property in the capital has gained recently a scholarship of emprendimiento to develop a publishing digital project and with didactic character that has named Palabras Ludo, yes they have read well of emprendimiento and infantile education.
“The toys have the whole history behind what it is at sight. It is the history of the designer who explores and who transmits one of his ways of seeing and of interacting with the world. But which are the histories that stay ahead of the game?, in this case he is the child the one that looks, is surprised and looks for his ways of relating what surrounds it, discovering always new fragments of his own world”.
From small and simple mechanisms the children learn playing at interfering in the own histories and this way they give life to his prominent figures. Believe and they narrate histories from the world that they makes a detour.
“This reflection is the one that forms the circle guides of the project: from the history to the toy, from the toy to the action, from the action to the new history.
And of this it is a question Palabras Ludo, because in this dialectics, which counts the first history retroalimenta with the vision of the child, who initially listens and learns for then, always across the game and the action, of returning to him another look that he speaks about new histories.
And already almost it is not possible to recognize if he is not the writer the child who plays or vice versa.”
We leave you with the interview that we have realized in order that she is the own Paula, that they explain to us closely his project.
Which have you been formation and professional path before Palabras Ludo?
I am arquitecta received in the University of Buenos Aires in 2012. Always I was interested in the infantile literature, for what I did several workshops of writing and illustration. In 2013 I realized the Máster in Infantile Design in Space and Product in the IED Madrid.
What did lead you to opening way you in the world of the education? Why for children?
The education across the game and the reading and, together with it, the exploration of the world that surrounds, the being conscious his that we live with others, be children, adults or elders.
The children motivate me because his look is attentive at all time, it is curious and worries. For them the world appears them newly and authentic.
Gianni Rodari was saying that the child on having listened to a story not only tries to understand the history, also it establishes analogies, deductions, seeks to understand the meaning of the words realizing an activity descifradora. In the structure of the story the child contemplates the structures of his own imagination, at the time that new others are made, constructing an indispensable instrument for the knowledge and domain of the reality. As this form it uses him to interfere, to be known, to measure up.
Had you some previous experience in the world of the education?
It had taken part as collaborator in some workshops of puppets and masks, always relating the histories that the games have to count.
Did you meet many difficulties? Which were the most problematic?
I think that always there are difficulties, but these transform in challenges and help us to achieve something better.
In my case, the major difficulty nowadays is the cost of production; but it is necessary to continue working in order that the product could come to all the children with a more accessible price.
Are you satisfied with the reached aims?
I am motivated and it satisfies and with desire of continuing thinking and working.
What expectations and projects of future have you for Palabras Ludo?
We are employed at the creation of a digital publishing house but I have intentions of continuing designing new objects and a family of prominent figures.
Are this type of initiatives profitable? Do you feel good remunerated by the labor that you realize?
I am employed at a business plan in order that the product is profitable, but there is much for continuing analyzing.
Do you arrange or complement this activity with other labors or in other fields?
Nowadays, I work parallel like arquitecta. I am interested in the infantile areas, the parks and his furniture. I think that the aims complement each other in his different scales of action: the big thing and the small thing, the space and his product. Definitively, in the city there coexist these multiple scales that cannot or they should not be understood separately.
How do you see the future of the education?
The important thing is always the critical reflection and the dialog; where both teacher and pupil learn mutually sharing experiences.
The current world is giving us a quantity of tools to treat the contents and the ways of coming with them to the persons that it is important a constant reflection brings over of the same ones not to get lost in the maelstrom of the globalization.
Do you think that to study Architecture has been a fundamental passport to have come to your current work?
Definitively. The architecture opens doors you constant: we learn of the art and of the design, think how the city works, are conscious of the scales, live with her in company.
Would you encourage other architects to follow your steps? What steps do you consider that they should give? How to complete his studies? What other advices would you give them?
The principal thing, in my opinion, is never to lose the curiosity and the motivation for continuing learning and experimenting.
Do ou think that the architects in Spain we should continue opening new routes of work to go out of the “most “traditional” cabin of projecting given the current situation of the construction in our country?
I think that already they are doing it. There are great the architects that I knew in Spain that there are opening other more own and authentic ways to demonstrate that the architecture is not simply the construction and the building projection. They demonstrate many and have demonstrated that the architecture is within reach of all, even of the smallest, and that we take her in the memory, in every street that we travel, in every threshold of a door, in every thought of a better city.
What do you think of those that they have been going to work abroad?
A good idea looks like to me the fact of sharing experiences with the rest of the world and of coming to a learning as a whole. Because we all have a vision on the things that often it does not coincide with the others and always there is much that we can learn of this.
How do you see the future of the profession?
I think that the future is in a healthier reformulation between the architecture and the company, healthier and more human. With the architecture we project towards the future, think about him. It is the tool and the discipline that we need for a better future.
